Terrific straw-coloured beer with a fresh, hoppy aroma and a well rounded, malty flavour with an intense bitterness which leads to an excellent long, dry finish. Winner of numerous, prestigious awards, most notably Best Strong Bitter at The Great British Beer Festival in 1992/93.
Ingredients: Optic pale malt. East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops (The bottled version uses EKG only).

[email protected] of Wales, Blackheath, London (11/08/2014) - amber coloured pour with a white head. Nice balanced hoppy and floral aroma and taste, light bready malts, refreshing golden ale.

Summer beer and a pioneering golden ale at least in England. Pure orange blonde robe, pleasant aroma of apple, pineapple, mandarin, honey, flowery hops, appetizing. Refreshing, soft and crisp, vivid palate, smooth, sweetish with a mild hoppy finish, very thirst-quenching. Delightfully elegant beer, I can easily imagine drinking more than one on a hot summer day.

Solid fare for a summer afternoon in a beer garden. Either a hoppy golden ale or a light pale ale. Good stuff.

[email protected] argyll arms London. Colour and texture just like filteret Apple juice. East Kent golding hops used as dryhopping but need more. Some Earthy notes. Taste smooth gentle not much bitterness. Dry finish not soho but soso.

Nice golden colour with little head, quite a distinct sweet citrus aroma. Refreshing palate and a fruity taste with a slightly bitter hint. Nothing majorly special, but a very good option for a summer evening drink.

Cask at the Henry Addington. Light straw coloured pour with a fleeting loose white head. Aroma is grassy berry hop with some sharp citrus. Flavour is grainy, straw and rough grassy bitterness. Palate is rough and grainy dry on the tongue. Fairly refreshing but too rough round the edges.

Bottle, 500ml. Grapefruit and hops on the nose. Straw coloured in appearance, with a bright white persistent head. Deep malty complexion, with a fresh and subtle fruity finish. A lovely beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
