COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with New Zealand and European malts with a big dose of hops from both New Zealand and America. Our RIPA has a full-bodied malt character that packs a punch on the palate and gives off a great, fresh aroma.

Taster at the brewery. Dark amber to reddish, the head did not hang up for long, but overall it was a damn good beer. The already typical fruity nose of the HF pale ales, a nice hoppy bitterness with a good deal of malty flavour, more like I expected their Double IPA to be. Unctuous and super agreeable to the palate.

On tap at Brewski 011016. Poured a good looking red colour with flecks of copper throughout and an even layer of light beige foam. Smooth and malty in the mouth with a touch of hoppiness and a mild slightly bitter finsh.

Hazy deep amber beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is airy and mildly dry. Decent fine carbonation. Fluffy malts, trace of caramel. Loads of apples and pears - tangy. A little orange underneath. Mild orange peel. Light finish. Odd and not right.

[8362-20160526] Bottle. Apple fruity grains aroma. Hazy, dark brown amber with a quick foamy white head. Grainy fruity wood and strange fishy notes at first. Medium body. Average. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1

2016-05-26. Brown body with a modest beige head that fades. Aroma is fruity, passion fruit, melon. Flavour is quite malty, moderate bitterness throughout, green hops, light melon and fruit. Average plus bodied palate, soft to low carbonation. Enjoyable but maltier than what I am looking for in an IPA. 7/3/7/3/14 Bottle from Hop Federation, Riwaka, NZ.

Muddy looking - very malty nose - far too much malt taste for me - is this rye in there too? - hops very muted and lacklustre - too much like an English brown ale so this isnt for me at all.
