750 mL capped bottle - Harvest 2009 bottle, sampled March 2012: clear orange gold body w/ lightly persistant ivory film. Fruity aroma with loads of freshly baked dough and oranges and bananas. Light wisps of brett, bitter herbs and honeycomb. Flavor of passionfruit, strawberries, bitter melon and lightly sour grapefruit. Fantastic beer, from one of my favorite breweries, Hautly: I am impressed that you have already figured out my favorite types of beer...Cheers!

Hazy orange colored liquid. Tall, fairly lasting, heavy cream colored head. Country fields aroma, with wild flowers, drying grass and hay. As it sets there is a light backdrop of pale to lightly toasted malt. Hints of citrus also emerge. I like it for its gentleness and complexity. Great start with light pale malt. Quite light in the palate, nearly to the point of being fizzy. Middle is lightly bitter, with dry herbs and flowers. Gets a bit more bitter and herbal in the finish. There is a light return of sweetness in the linger with a sweet caramel to toast malt residue. A couple of rough spots, but otherwise very enjoyable. 2/10

De Ranke’s take on the saison style, since 2010, with cream white, quickly opening head and misty, peach blonde colour. Aroma of bitter honey, apple, unripe peach, wild flowers. Fruity taste, light mouthfeel, becoming ever more dry and ending in a mild floral hop bitterness. Well-balanced, though I had way better beers from this brewery (so my expectations were perhaps a bit too high).

3/XII/13 - 75cl bottle from De Zytholoog / Bierloods (Maldegem) @ John’s place - BB: n/a (2013-1113)

Clear orange beer, small aery white head, little stable, non adhesive. aroma: some orange peel, bit soapy, floral, honey, sweet, spicy, overripe fruits, sugary, almonds. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet, honey, sugary, some fruits, overripe banana, bitter touch, some citrus. Aftertaste: pretty spicy, almonds, bitter touch, some banana, bit floral, soapy. Finally I was able to taste this one. Way too later of course. But I’ve been trying to get this bottle for a few years now. :p

The look is golden in color, has an ok off white head, and is not clear. The smell is hops, fruits, citrus, and flowers. The taste is hops, fruits, citrus, and a light bitterness.

75 cl bottle @ Nuetnigenough, Brussels. Rated on 18.07.2010
Aroma has rather nice hops with fruits and floral notes(!). Flavour is bitter with lots of hops, fruits, gooseberry bush and some Belgian yeast. Refreshing and good!

Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt! A: Hazy orange appearance with an inch of white head that coats the glass with sticky lacing. S: Yeast, spices, hops, grass. T: Pretty decent taste, but not in the upper echelon of the style. The hop character is nice, with some pleasant yeastiness. Regardless of the category of beer in which this is placed, it tastes much more like a Belgian IPA than a saison. M: Very dry in the finish. Carbonation level was adequate. D: Overall, pretty good. Worth a try, but not something I would seek it out. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-06-2010

ChrisO ’Night Of The Gaylords’ tasting. Hazy gold beer. Dry palate, very light and airy. Yeasty floral notes with IPA level hop bitterness. Light butter! A little odd! Finishes dry with more floral bitterness.
