September 24, 2015 - at Craft (Covent Garden) - handpull cask. "let’s hope it’s better than their Gold." Black with ruby edges, lasting foamy tan head (4+). Gorgeous aroma - chocolate with a hint of bitterness and mint to it, light alcohol. Airy, lush, cocoa/chocolate, just a whisper for herbal bitterness - creamy, light mouthfeel, lots of chocolate in the linger, and damn I enjoyed this - well done! john44 (3429) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2017
Gravity Cask Half Pint at Craft 100 Festival at Craft Beer Co, Clapham, London in April 2014 - Very Dark Brown in colour. Good head. Good lacing. Very Malty; roasty malts, coffee, dark chocolate, caramel. Fruity; dark fruits. Hoppy; some hop bitterness. Moderately bitter roast malty coffee and chocolate throughout. Very drinkable. Tastes malty, chocolate, vanilla, slightly bitter.
Cask at Pig’s Ear, Richmond last week. As ’Hop Studio Porter’, vanilla porter. Black with a creamy dense brown head, full lacing. Aroma is milky, bready, yeast, coffee. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is milky chocolate, metallic, yeast, twiggy, light vanilla. The first sip was quite impressive, but I found this one quite yeasty. Perhaps getting towards the bottom of the cask? Still nice enough. prawlie (1684) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2016
