Very strong, great taste and flavor. This one will sneak up on you if you drink it too fast. Perfect for the holidays. I don’t think there is a better Winter Seasonal beer out there.

Amber body with an orange hue, and soft beige foam on top. The bouquet consists of a pleasant intermingling of milldy citrus-accented hops, spicy gum drop notes, and sweet candi malt, with a moderate mineral character. The body follows through with this gum drop, citrus-hop, caramel, and candi malt mix. Medium bodied. With some aeration, moderate, toasted malts and tannins breakthrough.

Treated as a winter warmer, this was poured into a mug. The appearance was a dark brown color with a good finger and a half worth’s of white foamy head. Dissipates mildly with a messy lace roaming all around. The aroma bleeds ginger, allspice, and caramel malts. Grassy hops seek to balance decently. The flavor leads with the same aromas. Sticky caramel malt backbone seems to really impound the aftertaste to run into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels fine. Overall, good as a winter warmer, but seems to be missing a bit more booziness than expected for an American Strong ale.

PotjeBier (3839) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 18, 2016
12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Deep ruby red color with a slight haze. Rocky light beige head with pretty good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: resinous hops, caramel malts, light red fruit. Fruit is much more upfront retronasal, with the resin still quite strong and caramel more subdued. Flavor is moderate bitter, light fruity sourness, light caramel sweetness. Medium bodied. Long finish with herbal and earthy bitterness.

stevoj (5886) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 7, 2016
Bottle from Boise Co-op. Pours out a ruby tinged gold, with sparse head, yet leaves copious amounts of spotty lacing. Malt drives the aroma and taste, backup support comes from hops, spice and a bit of alcohol warmth. It all comes together quite nicely for a winter warmer.

SG111 (2149) - New York, USA - JAN 7, 2016
Bottled. Pours copper with a slightly tan head. Aroma is hop-forward, some sort of dark fruits, malt, maybe some light cinnamon. Flavor is fig, sort of toffee-like, hoppy finish. Think hoppy barleywine. It’s good but as I continue to drink it, it’s just not that complex. It’s a bit flat overall. But it has so much potential. It’s really got a lot going for it and it could be great. But it kinda JUST misses the mark, which is really a shame. Aroma is nice, and the flavor starts off really nice but then just kinda falls off. Shame.

deyholla (12590) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 3, 2016
Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a nice sweet grain and spice combination with a bit of caramel underlying. Flavor has a combination of hrass, sweet grains and light spice with a hint of toffee supporting.

IndianaRed (5127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 22, 2015
Bottle Deep amber witha lively coarse head Lots of woody sharp bitter aroma and flavors notes. Astringent and the ABV is noticable. Bitterness was somewhat rye-like.
