A porter style aged in bourbon barrels, 12oz tulip glass at the brewpub. Beautiful dark brown to black in color with small toffee colores head. Aroma is sweet and woody with bourbon all over it. Taste is amazing, sweet and sugary with roastiness and sticky mouthfeel. At 11% abv it is a sipper for sure, but worth the time as the complexities change as the temperature does. HopCat did a great job with this one! b3shine (8870) - Indiana, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Draft to taster at HopCat. Looks good; a dark cola with thin, sticky light beige lacing. Smells sour with notes of dark malt and bourbon. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Enjoyable. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Draft at HopCat, Grand Rapids. Deep brown-black body, thin medium ochre head. Tannic nose with chocolate, roast, and coffee bean. Same notes in body, chocolate and coffee backed by oak and alcohol, slightly tart, and very tannic with lots of sugars. Inky and rich, but a tad rough.
