Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a deep brown color with a half finger’s worth of foamy white head. No lace. The aroma had some pecan/walnuts, light smoke, light dark chocolate. mild woodiness and then some earthy/grassy hops. The flavor had some semi-sweet to low bitter dark chocolate-like arrangement. Some light semi-tart fruit and a touch of some herbal quality slides in for a decent balance. Semi-roasty aftertaste. Not much of a finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Subtle carbonation. ABV felt fine. Overall, good for what it was, but the robust part, where was that? I missed the memo on this being robust.

MiBGWF 2009: Deep brown with a minimal head and no lace. The aroma has notes of walnuts, smoky charred malts, grassy hops, vanilla and chocolate. The taste has a twangy fruit and herbal hop profile with a nutty and chocolate background. Some coffee upon the finish. The mouth feel is smmoth and thin. Simply okay and somewhat a disappointment, hardly robust.

Very dark brown pour and lingering brown head. The aroma was roasted barley malt, caramel, chocolate, and coffee. Flavors similarly...chocolate, coffee, caramel all on top of some very dark roasted barley malt. Lightly bitter finish...somewhat marred by an overly watery mouthfeel and lack of creaminess I was hoping for.

Draft at HopCat. Poured dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium body and smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium roasted bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This beer met my expectations.
