Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; coca cola brown pour with a bubbly tan head, aroma has burnt roasted malts with some creme brûlée sugar coating, taste has sweet syrup, chocolate, some coffee and chocolate, pretty cool.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 14th July 2015. Deep sepia brown with tan vanishing, nonlacing foam. Vanila and maple syrup in a roasty aroma. A rich roastiness and citric tang in-mouth; finish is fruity with vanilla and burnt roast malt. Smooth mouthfeel and full body. Rated as a novelty ale.

Keg at the Fox, Hopcraft tap takeover, 29/01/15. Light black with reddish hues and a decent tan covering that retains well. Nose is nutty, maple syrup, toffee, light hop notes, faint charr. Taste comprises rich toffee, syrup, pecan pie, Marathon (Snickers) Bar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent sweetish porter affair.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s, London. It pours a murky brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasty, lightly citrusy and salty. Taste has notes of caramel, dried fruits, cocoa powder, dark malts. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, nice porter

The Fox. Tap takover. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and slightly crisp. Mild dark malts and a nice mild malt cream. Tangy sweetness, very mild maple. Trace of dark fruits. Finishes airy and semi dry. Indistinct hop bitterness. Pretty drinkable.

Keg at the Fox - London. Pours clear black-brown with a creamy khaki head. The aroma holds some sugary chocolate, burnt marshmallows, dark earth. Medium sweet flavor with lots of dark sugar, burnt grains, some vanilla pods, scorched earth and wood bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes sweet with moderate bittersweet cocoa, more scorched earth, dried dark fruits. Not bad.

Cask at the hanging bat. Dark brown pour, thin beige head. Light smoke and roast aromas, maple perhaps, but faint. Taste has a bit more sweetness. Clean finish. Ok.

On cask at Hop Inn, Newcastle Under Lyme. Pours black with tan head. Very bitter porter with some sweet stickiness but there’s a lack of maple or the bitterness kills it. I’d gone to get this beer specifically and I was expecting a sweet sticky porter. Ah well, nice enough beer as a porter but.....
