rauchbier (3902) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 8, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2012 Re-rate - Bottled, from Asda Scunthorpe. Chestnut red, thin but lasting off white head andlow condition. Sweet grainy maltiness, brown sugar, some peppery spiciness and a low burnt fruit in the nose, quite soft in the mouth with an upfront earthy chalkiness giving way to a liquorice sweetness that with time becomes bitter once again, lingering licorice bitterness in the finish with an underlying earthiness. Initial Rating Date: 9/8/2003 - Bottle conditioned. Chestnut red, thin but lasting off white head and moderate condition. Raisin, tobacco, malt and hops in the nose. Quite unbalanced in the mouth with syrupy licorice and mouthfilling nuttiness that becomes coconutty towards the end. Some hops apparent in finish but nuts still dominate. (6-3-6-3-11 2.9)

planky84 (3313) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 30, 2010
Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Toffee, malts, berries, baked apple and pear aromas. Chocolate, caramel, raisins and cloves in the taste. Quite smooth and easy drinking. Gentle bitterness on the palate. Not bad.

Indra (2711) - Suburbia, Kansas, USA - NOV 7, 2004
Bottled, from Pitfield’s in London. Rather exotic and complex aroma with some floral, spicy hops, pineapple, pear, dried apricot, various leafy herbs, toasty malt, anise, mint, tree bark and persimmon(?). Medium red-orange color, cloudy, with a lasting, fine, creamy off-white head. Flavor profile is hop oriented -- spicy, flowery and lightly citric, with moderate amounts of biscuity malt and hop bitterness and a fruity, tangy, nutty, dry finish. Body is medium, the palate finely effervescent. Interesting and unique.

sm89walt (2070) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUL 1, 2009
Bottle. Clear and subdued ruby red with little to no head, just a fine layer of beige carbonation. Chocolate, raisin & berry and a hint of oak & alcohol on the nose. Quite nutty yet fruity flavours - berry and raisin - with some chocolate and alcohol and a roasty, slightly smokey finish. Lightly warming, medium body with a lasting dry nutty & roasted bitterness and a fruity aftertaste.
