Bottle from Plonk (July 2015). Darkest brown with frothy dark tan head, smoke, oak, sweet bourbon, bitter coffee, cocoa, full body, slightly muddy feel, high carbonation, dry bitter oaky finish. Great!

Bottle. Black, with dirty brown frothy head that dissipates to a thin covering. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, oak, a touch of espresso and dark roasty malts. Strong roast bitterness, coffee and bourbon. Horribly over-carbonated, which unfortunately detracts a lot from this beer.

Pours black with a massive tan head.
Nose shows roasted malt, treacle, delicate woody oak.
Flavours include roasted malt, cocoa and soft oak.
Carbonation is insanely high.

On tap at Keg & Brew, Sydney on 15th September 2015. Black with pale brown foam and full lacing. Rich and intense roastiness in aroma with touches of woodsmoke and cherry. Roasty in-mouth with fine spices, smoky touches and a bitter coffee flavour. Intense coffee roastiness in finish with a lactic touch, lingering bitterness and peppery spice in subtle measure. Full-on mouthfeel without being overly "heavy". Well-crafted, and quite possibly the best beer I drank during my visit to Australia.

hawthorne00 (4142) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 28, 2015
Black with a large tan head - having had a few HopDog beers now, I figure a pint glass will just fit a 330ml bottle, and it barely does. Hard roasted aroma with earth, mocha, a whiff of vanilla and oak. Perhaps smells stronger than 6.2%, but doesn’t feel like it. Quite intense roast and mocha flavours, earthy with a drying woody and fairly bitter finish. Pretty good, getting towards the limit of how much oak I want at the finish.

3.4
Malrider69 (173) - Central Coast, AUSTRALIA - SEP 3, 2015
Pours a black colour with a medium sized, tan coloured head. The aroma is sweet (chocolate and sugar), roast malt and the flavour is of chocolate, slightly of bourbon and hops with a slightly sweet after-taste that sits nicely on the palate. Overall, a reasonable beer.

stoutnick (843) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 29, 2015
Black pour. Aroma is subtle dark roast. Taste is the same - guess bourbon oak aroma and flavour has faded into the point of obscurity. Average porter.

Bottle - pours black with a big tan head. Aroma is coffee, toffee, liquorice and a bit of hop. Nice balance roast and sweet. Creamy palate. Excellent.

On tap at The Tipplers Tap. Looks how I feel a beer should, the bourbon flavours are very well balanced, freaking delicious!
