Horizontal tasting Bruges (Brugge Tripel) vs. Ghent (Gentse Tripel). Bottled (thanks mom), BB 09-07-2005, sampled 05-01-2009 (about 6 years old). Huge lasting head, lots of carbonation, orange/golden coloured, beautiful appearance. Fruity nose, citrus, orange, some yeast. Initially sweet flavour, fruit, spices. Pleasant dry finish. I have no idea what a fresh samplewould taste like, but this is quite ok. Ghent obviously wins. Travlr (26065) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 10, 2008
Pale yellow urine colored. A bit thin, but reasonably balanced hops and spice. Aroma a bit too heavy on the alcohol. OK. BoBoChamp (5878) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 23, 2008
33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex, balanced, hazy, rocky head, nice brew Bullit (4686) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUL 30, 2008
Golden colour, white head. Just an average tripel, with yeast, citrus and coriander in the aroma. Taste has yeast, fruits and malts. Finishes bitter and dry. Uninteresting. imdownthepub (15325) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 14, 2008
Bottle, 330ml at L’Enfant Terrible, Ghent. Hazed orange amber with white, heavily carbonated, head. This has the bonus of being quite dry for a big beer with a good hoppy presence. Quite sharp and lemony with a real bitterness. Pretty decent, but as Fin says, overcarbonated.
