Deep black beer with woody, fruity and roasty aromas. String taste of alcohol. A great beer in its style. Johnsense (1666) - - AUG 5, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 14, 2016 bottle. Massive 4 finger head, cola black. Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugar, molasses, sauna wood. Taste is a fair bit sweeter than the smell with lots of brown sugar, burnt caramel, toffee, roasted malts, coffee with sugar. A tad sweet for my tastes - if you can find the barrel aged version it’s a real treat and blows this (and most other quebec porters not produced by LTM) out of the water. Poured out a dark brown with a solid red hue, large, frothy light brown cap that sticks around quite nicely and produces some dissipating spots but on a new pour the lacing is thick and dirty looking and glues itself to the glass. Very sweet aroma - too sweet, caramel, vanilla, coconut, dates, tons of sweetness throughout and it seems to be gaining ground. The taste is also sweet very sweet with a hint of alcohol.. just a hint, caramel, odd chocolate, medium roast, vanilla, light spice, coconut, brown sugar, weak molasses. The flavour has been consistent the entire time. Ok feel, astringent at times on the finish. Too sweet. Long finish. Meh. blipp (9268) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUL 7, 2011
Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet and roasty malty aroma with some caramel. The flavor has roasted malts, dark fruits, toast, and a light malty sweetness. Well balanced. Nice. BREWMUSKCLES (2685) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 3, 2011

A deep dark porter with a very thin moka head. A sweet bready chocolate aroma, musky, smooth alcohol notes, dark fruits, a bit of wet dough. In mouth, a smooth sweet chocolate with maraschino cherries, plums, some bananas, lingering coffee bitterness, dry and sustained. On tap at St-Bock, April 23rd, 2011. sseb69 (1909) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 15, 2011
Bouteille 750 ml. 8%. Couleur brune-noire foncé rougeâtre. Mousse beige. Arôme de porto, malt, un peu de caramel-chocolat En bouche, douce, un peu vineuse, un peu de sucre, moins de choclat et café que je pensais...je peut même dire qu’elle me fait penser à un Barley Wine...très bonne. Bottle shared by lushawn the night before Dark Lord Day- thanks, Shawn! Pours a deep cola brown color with a big tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, root beer, rust, and dark chocolate. Flavor of sweet and roasted malts, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and earth. Light-medium bodied with surprisingly sharp carbonation and a soda-like mouthfeel. Decent Baltic porter but something seemed off in the way this was carbonated.
