This Baltic Porter’s molasses and roastiness dwell in a rich body ably cut by a hoppy and earthy finish. A well-balanced number which worked a little better for me than their Oak-Aged version.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam dissipates into the browned blackness.
-Carbonation is comfortable, working efficiently with the nourishing body.
-Earthiness is found in the nose and amongst the drying roastiness as well.
-Almost a year into its existence, I can say this beer ages very gracefully.
-Another thing which is fun with this brewery is that their Baltic Porter and Imperial Stout are very different from each other. These guys are really having fun.
On tap at the Mondial de la Bière and at the brewery tasting room.
Tap at Vices et Versa. Deep brown black beer with a bit of ruddy/ruby highlights. The aroma is surprisingly clean. Light molasses and a soft dried plumminess in the nose. Very plummy and toasty, but it doesn’t have much roasted character at all. As it warms, it really opens up. Loads of clean, well-lagered dark sweetness. Some treacle and a bit of fudgey chocolate character. Very, very clean palate. Light lingering roast. Very complex with a nice mix of figs and dark malts and a clean finish. One of the better Baltic Porter’s I’ve had in quite some time. blipp (9373) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUL 7, 2011
Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet and roasty malty aroma with some caramel. The flavor has roasted malts, dark fruits, toast, and a light malty sweetness. Well balanced. Nice. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 9, 2008
[1442-20080531] Bottle. Boozy roast malt aroma has lots of wood. Dark brown red body with a quick foamy light tan head. Flavour has a little watery banana. Medium body. Interesting.

Sweet dark fruits, a bit too sweet to my taste. Medium to heavy body. Bottle kept on foaming forever. Anyhow, microcarbonation, toffee, a bunch of flavours. Ho.st rocks.

A little syrupy. Not exactly what I like in a Baltic Porter. Pours dark clear brown with a little initial lacing and head. Finishes a little sweet. Taste is generally sweet, with some light roast malt here. Tap at brewpub on Montreal opening. jredmond (8333) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 31, 2011
Draft at Ginger Man NYC with Streets, Andrew and Brendan. Pours a dark brown body with thin lacing. Aroma is slightly smoky. Mouthfeel is smooth with sweet notes of oak. Great Porter TaktikMTL (7809) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 10, 2012
Head is small, mostly diminishing.
Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, caramel, coffee), with notes of vanilla, toffee, blackberry, anise.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/syrupy texture, lively/soft carbonation.
Very savory and aromatically pleasant! A little short of 4+ bliss, but quite solid. blankboy (7709) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2009
Bottle (500ml) at Volo, shared with garthicus & GregClow. Pours a very dark orange-brown with an average size semi-lasting foamy tan head. Slightly subtle aroma of roasted malt, a hint of sourness (or metal), some coffee and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt with notes of chocolate, dark fruit and the aforementioned metal/sourness. Dry, roasty finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, not great.
