UPDATED: NOV 24, 2007 My Bottom Line:
This Baltic Porter’s molasses and roastiness dwell in a rich body ably cut by a hoppy and earthy finish. A well-balanced number which worked a little better for me than their Oak-Aged version.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam dissipates into the browned blackness.
-Carbonation is comfortable, working efficiently with the nourishing body.
-Earthiness is found in the nose and amongst the drying roastiness as well.
-Almost a year into its existence, I can say this beer ages very gracefully.
-Another thing which is fun with this brewery is that their Baltic Porter and Imperial Stout are very different from each other. These guys are really having fun.

On tap at the Mondial de la Bière and at the brewery tasting room.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Aroma of palm oil, roast, with a slick, greasy, thick and steaky body to it. Light bitter in the mouth with good complexity, with lots of roasty coffee in there. Notes of root vegetables are present. Balanced and clean, kind of bourbony despite its lack of barrel aging. Chalky and creamy and easy drinking. I’m looking forward to trying the BBA’d version of this Fred provided.

RoyceH (1200) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - SEP 23, 2010
Tap at Church Key. Dark brown, light off-white film. Nose oddly lemony, sparkly, not unlike lemon washing up liquid. Undertones of plum. Mouth is plummy, prune, slight sourness and some spice. Slight sweetness, fruity, dark fruit, touch of peach at the end. Woodiness is there too. Really nice. Slight saltiness on the swallow.

Bouteille 750 ml. 8%. Couleur brune-noire foncé rougeâtre. Mousse beige. Arôme de porto, malt, un peu de caramel-chocolat En bouche, douce, un peu vineuse, un peu de sucre, moins de choclat et café que je pensais...je peut même dire qu’elle me fait penser à un Barley Wine...très bonne.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet and roasty malty aroma with some caramel. The flavor has roasted malts, dark fruits, toast, and a light malty sweetness. Well balanced. Nice.

Johnsense (1800) - - AUG 5, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 14, 2016 bottle. Massive 4 finger head, cola black. Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugar, molasses, sauna wood. Taste is a fair bit sweeter than the smell with lots of brown sugar, burnt caramel, toffee, roasted malts, coffee with sugar. A tad sweet for my tastes - if you can find the barrel aged version it’s a real treat and blows this (and most other quebec porters not produced by LTM) out of the water.

On tap at Pro Pig with Max and Andy. Pours a lightly hazed brown with a medium sized white head. Big sweet roast and caramel. Sweet roast and caramel. Chewy roast. Long sweetness, faint roast, caramel.

Bottle - Chocolate, dark fruit and raisin. Deep jet brown with a decent light brown head. Dark sweet chocolate and dark fruit. Nice and slick on the palate. Nice beer.
