Radek Kliber (7352) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUN 8, 2007
On tap at Mondial.
Dark brown falling into ebony. Smallish creamy head.3+
Roasty, even with coco accents. Lightly vinous. Roasty, hint of smoke.
Full bodied .Rich potent pit tar like smoky charcter. It is quiet different in character to let say Polish Baltics. I feel that the emphasis is placed in complexity of its brew than straight forward solid yet unsophisticated quality roast. Here roasted qualities are secondary. Over all quiet pleasant potent brew. Long lasting gently bitter finish.

Pours a black color with brown highlights and a medium, light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla beans, there’s a promise of luscious malt in there. Good flavor of chocolate with rich roasted malt and a dry, bitter finish. THe body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation.

Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 28, 2007
In short: A very good smooth and round porter.
How: Tap at brewery. I think this batch is a few months old.
The look: Black body, medium tan head
In long: A touch of smoke on the nose. Taste has black liquorice, thick toffee, chocolate cake and some tropical fruits. Overall rather sweet. This one focuses on smoothness and roundness and not on roastiness and dryness. Some leafy green-ish hops provide a shy bitterness. There was a little rubber/band-aid flavour but it was very light. Full yet lean body with lots of small bubbles. Enjoyable sticky/syrupy mouthfeel. Nothing really stands out but this beer has many qualities. And if there is one thing I like about a beer it is that there is more than one thing to like about a beer.

On tap @ Vices et Versa, Montreal. Pors a nice deep dark brown. Bitter & slight sourness & tartness. Medium mouthfeel, light chocolate flavor. Prefer both the victory & smuttynose

[1442-20080531] Bottle. Boozy roast malt aroma has lots of wood. Dark brown red body with a quick foamy light tan head. Flavour has a little watery banana. Medium body. Interesting.

blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2009
Bottle (500ml) at Volo, shared with garthicus & GregClow. Pours a very dark orange-brown with an average size semi-lasting foamy tan head. Slightly subtle aroma of roasted malt, a hint of sourness (or metal), some coffee and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt with notes of chocolate, dark fruit and the aforementioned metal/sourness. Dry, roasty finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, not great.

bedainedebiere (538) - Terrebonne, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 6, 2009
750 ml bottle, although the label says 500ml, seen for the first time today in BDF, sold at 9,29$. Strong aroma, sweet, smokey, not too much to my liking. Taste is of roasted sweet malt, figs, black licorice, some fruityness, notes of smoke, pleasing, neither too harsh nor too heavy, with Texture is not too thick without being watery, pretty well-balanced. Moderate hop bitterness and roasted malt lingering in aftertaste. Goes down very well at 8 %, being not too high in ABV. Well done, enjoyable, expensive and quite worth it.

GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 14, 2010
Bottle shared with blankboy & garthicus at Volo, circa Dec 2008. Deep ruby with a small mocha head. Roasted malt aroma with a slight lactic sourness and hints of cold coffee. Medium bodied. Flavour is interesting - quite malty, but also a bit funky, plus notes of caramel and dry cocoa. Quite unique, and quite nice.

750ml bottle. pours pitch black with a thin moka head. aroma is loaded with chocolate and smoke. taste is too sweet for my liking, but the chocolate is definately there in a good way. not much bitterness. body is thin for the style. not a bad beer, but nothing special either.
