Purchased in Washington DC in May 2017. Slightly opaque yellow with no head. Low carbonation. Very mixed taste on the palette. Slightly tart, smoked, hopped and malty with a hint of saison. Personally not a fan of this balance.

Draft at Hopfenstark Station Ho.st, Montreal. Clear pale gold, white head. Aroma of smoke and sour fruit. Taste is mild smoke, hay, tart fruit. Interesting, but this combination doesn’t really work for me. It does seem like a smoked Berliner Weisse rather than a smoked saison.

Cloudy golden color with a white head. Aroma is strongly smoky with notes of pale malt, wheat, yeast. Lighter bodied, lesser smoky flavor with a very light sourness. Different to say the least. Luvystypotables (1922) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - MAY 26, 2017

Something about this caught my eye. I don’t remember if it was the label, the teaser, or the idea of a smoked saison. Whatever the reason it jumped into my cart at Party Source without a second thought. The results defy easy categorization. Maybe you need to try it three times in different situations before you can truly grasp everything that is going on.
Aroma / Appearance - A carbonated golden base dances under soft ivory head. The smooth presence belies smoky wheat, earth, and hay. The mixture is part saison and part rauchbier. Being so light it also manages to almost simulate aspects of a golden ale.
Flavor / Palate - Smoked wheat, lemon custard, and sweetness permeate the air. Suddenly the tastes of a barn fire flood the mouth with a mashup of hay, earth, and ash. The outcome delivers more than just a clever name - this beer deserves a sample if you’ve got an adventurous friend or two.
Fresh from the tap at Muted Horn in Berlin. Light cloudy yellow without a remarkable foam layer. At begin light yeast spicyness. Later comes a touch of smoke. Very light.
