It’s not a smoke beer. It’s not a tart Berliner Weisse. It’s maybe a weird saison. BerlinerRauchSaison. Yes! Low gravity beer with good presence of wheat. A small layer of smoke malt disappears after a few sips. And light tartness and spice from the Saison yeast. Refreshing and flavourful at the same time.

ABUSEDGOAT (2818) - California, USA - JUN 1, 2017
Cloudy golden color with a white head. Aroma is strongly smoky with notes of pale malt, wheat, yeast. Lighter bodied, lesser smoky flavor with a very light sourness. Different to say the least.

Luvystypotables (2039) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - MAY 26, 2017
An earthy aroma of Belgian yeast with a hint of banana. Pours a hazy pale gold not much head despite a lot of carbonation. Taste of banana, spice and a bit of earthy Belgian yeast. Medium body and a spicy finish.

Evilkniamhel (1033) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 25, 2017
Keg at muted horn. Pours hazy gold. Nose of esters, light smoke, keen bananas. Taste is dry, slightly tart, bit Smokey, nice and balanced.

Brigadier (3725) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - APR 30, 2017

Something about this caught my eye. I don’t remember if it was the label, the teaser, or the idea of a smoked saison. Whatever the reason it jumped into my cart at Party Source without a second thought. The results defy easy categorization. Maybe you need to try it three times in different situations before you can truly grasp everything that is going on.

Aroma / Appearance - A carbonated golden base dances under soft ivory head. The smooth presence belies smoky wheat, earth, and hay. The mixture is part saison and part rauchbier. Being so light it also manages to almost simulate aspects of a golden ale.

Flavor / Palate - Smoked wheat, lemon custard, and sweetness permeate the air. Suddenly the tastes of a barn fire flood the mouth with a mashup of hay, earth, and ash. The outcome delivers more than just a clever name - this beer deserves a sample if you’ve got an adventurous friend or two.

Fresh from the tap at Muted Horn in Berlin. Light cloudy yellow without a remarkable foam layer. At begin light yeast spicyness. Later comes a touch of smoke. Very light.

tmzl (320) - SLOVENIA - JAN 31, 2017
Roast, not the best combination, classical saison. Still interesting, the roast simulates the funk. Not sour.

dandeman (1040) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 10, 2017
Bouteille 750 ml.

A canadian, yellow, rauch-, saison-, wheatbeer whith white head. Aroma is smoke, (bacon), malt. Taste is bitter. High carbonated. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
