On cask at station ho.st. Pours a mostly clear amber with a large white head. Sweet citrus and a touch of hops. Medium bodied, soft and sweet, moving into a gentle bitterness for the finish. VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Sample at the 2010 VT Brewers Fest - Poured from a cask. Poured a brownish amber in color with a small light tan head and little carbonation. Aroma is a bit fruity with floral and citrus hops. Flavor followed pretty closely and exhibited a nice citrus/grapefruit mix along with some light fruitiness (apple/grape?). Lingering bitter finish. Very good. En cask au Vices & Versa: Un petit bout de sucre gentil animé par une finale poussiéreuse et un brin lactique. Le corps est mince mais avec une enveloppe rondelette agréable. Buvabilité monstre. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 10, 2014
Cask at HO.ST. Deep amber-brown pour. Cloudy burnished appearance - looks great. The nose is softly malty. A touch o baked bread crust. Nice earthy hoppiness and a little bit of toffee. It’s it a minerally bitterness that helps dry it out. Nice pint. MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 18, 2007
My Bottom Line:
Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 25, 2007
A perfume of floral hops and actual petals swirls into this perilously drinkable Bitter, efficiently reaching a firm and earthy hop bitterness. Citrusy fruitiness also leaks from this jolly hop bouquet as quaffability soars.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fluffy head of foam covers the misty deep copper red.
-The body is healthy (maybe a little too slim for my tastes though), yet there are few malt flavors; malt complexity could be increased a tad.
-Carbonation is very low due to the cask serving; this is a very authentic pint of bitter throughout.
-Chocolatey allusions are perceived in the aroma once in a while.
-A wooden dryness accompanies the finishing hop bitterness.
On cask at Vices et Versa.
Cloudy chestnut brown bitter in excellent condition, showcasing a large and lasting off-white foam. Quite a leafy and highly earthy nose where the toasted, almost roasted nutty hints are taken on by heavier hops than expected. They did make it bitter indeed, insisting on its fruity hop aromatics, rather citrusy on top of its generous earthiness. A fun take on the style and worthy of its cask conditioning. beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 15, 2008
Sampled cask conditioned at Vices et Versa. The pour reveals a murky brownish amber color with a medium offwhite head. Very pleasant aroma of earthy, fruity hops with fruity caramel. Good flavor of earthy, grapefruity hops with caramel and a solid bitter finish. The body is light with a soft, pillowy texture provided by the cask conditioning and low carbonation. Good stuff. rederic (3337) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 4, 2008
On tap at the brewery, dark amber color, with a fluffy beige head, leaving laces, yeasty, fruity nose of ripe apple, with a hint of cloverleaf spiciness, a nice earthy flowery hop cedary, within a faint pine niddle accent, in a subtle toasty malt aroma follows though on a medium-bodied plate with a yeasty, mild toasty, acidic, spiced hoppy character, kind of a juicy, piney, cedary, leafy hop flavor, leading towards a leafy, bittering finish. On tap at the St-Graal...
Appearance:clear amber,good head...
Flavor:Fesh grapefruit flavor,light caramel,,,, AlainG (2248) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 8, 2014
