Glass at the pub. Perfect pour. Amber with a nice great white head. Nice look. Aroma is nicely hoppy and citrusy. Taste is plain hop and awesome grapefruit. A bit floral and a tiny bit grassy (which I don’t normally appreciate a lot but this time it was ok). Finish is a bit citric and nicely bitter. Very well balanced and well crafted. I will revisit with a bottled version. I liked it a lot ! Rating #116 presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 17, 2009
Glass at pub. Dark copper. Good head. Thick hop and caramel scent with hints of citrus, spruce and more wood. Very different! Caramel middle. Spurce, resin and wood finish. elihapa (1554) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - MAR 14, 2009
On tap, Vices et Versa. Pours orange with a small head. Aroma has malt, caramel and sweet fruit. Flavor is initially very sweet. Unusually so, said the bartender, who is convinced that Hopfenstark is making this brew differently from years past. I detected sweet, ripe apricot and peach in the body. Mouthfeel is satisfyingly full. Overall, a decent IPA, but leans too malty and heavy for my taste. Best described as a British IPA. radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 16, 2009
Reddish-brown in colour with a thin off-white head, excellent lacing. The aroma was quite hoppy with quite a bit tropical fruits and some citrus, caramel malt sweetness, lightly floral as well. The flavour is of citrus hops, caramel, light pine, some pear, a bit earthy. Lightly hoppy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, with some citrus turning soft at the end. oakbluff (453) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 20, 2008
Pretty good stuff, very nice balance. This is high on my list of beers to try again the next time I’m in Montreal.
Draught at Mondial 2008, Montreal, Quebec.
Sampled on May 30, 2008.
Bottle via glouglouberp- my first offering from Hopfenstark. Pours a cloudy dark orange colour with a thick off white head. Nose- caramel, slight pine. Taste- spicy hop flavour, earthy balance well with caramel and doughy malts. Not an in your face IPA, but a more classic british style. Finish is not overly dry as the sweet malts linger. Mouthfeel- medium bodied and carbonation. Drinkability is quite good given the balance of hops and malts.

Shared with Pyrozoid. Dark orange poor with light cloudyness and a small beige head. Aromas of citrus, grass, cantaloupe and a subtile floralness. Creamy, medium body... perfectly carbonated and balanced. Not to sweet and just nicely bitter. Flavors of orange zest, earthy and long lasting. Spab (3963) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 26, 2008
Draught at Volo. Pours a rich, cloudy orange-copper with a moderate white-ish head. Strong, complex hoppy nose with more subtle malts. Hops and malts are beautifully balanced in the flavour. Slightly bitter, lasting finish. Simply a superb beer. barncatmatt (2287) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 20, 2008

Bottle, Volo. Warm red, hazy with gigantic rocky head. Dry, floral, funk-friendly and aromatic. Soft gentle mouthfeel. Killer Orval and JP-like finish. OMFG this beer is great. DRY with green olive-like bitterness, lemon zest. Complex. Superlative. Memorable.
