750ml bottle shared with brother in law. Aroma: rye, cereals, lemon, spices and a tiny bit wild. App: hazy golden orange with lots of unappealing particules in suspension. Taste and palate: medium body, lively carbonation, light dry bitter finish. Overall: Not like all those wild and brett out there these days but q good representation of the style. On tap at the brewery, during their grand opening, Hazy amber-orange hue, with a very small beige head, yeasty dough, fruity nose of ripe apples, hint of nutmeg spiciness, a bit wheaty, with a subtle rye cereal note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity character of sultana, ripe apples, with a flowery hop accent, a nutmeg spiciness, an orangeish rye mouthfeel, leading towards a fruity, malty finish. UPDATED: AUG 22, 2016 Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #14. Vermont Brewer’s Fest, July 2008, sample 7 (draught). Much better on a second try, some interesting spiciness in the nose, and caraway rye is in evidence...cherry and sour apple in the body, spicy dark rye breadiness, this is fairly similar to the Bière Sure but with a little more accent on the malt, a little less tartness, a little more dryness. Rating is for this second sample only.
VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - AUG 3, 2008
Sampled draught at the Mondial, Montreal (May 2007). Opaque apricot in color, little head, no real lacing....apricots in the nose as well, at first the fruitiness dominates but a bit of earthy funk works its way in eventually....body starts out rather too sweet, dries out a bit midpalate, gets a bit mineralic and salty to finish....somewhat "dirty" or rough on the palate and too sweet and syrupy overall, too much fruit-sugar....drinkable, but a disappointment. 6-3-5-3-11=2.8
