COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. It pours a big, foamy white head over a sparkling, almost clear golden colored body. The aroma is quite grassy and piney, but with too much white sugar and pale malts. Some lemon notes. Herbal hints, grass, resin notes, orange zest and a generic fruityness in the flavor. Full body, quite effervescent and semi-dry. Lasting finish. Might be a bit old this bottle, but I’m far from impressed. 150314

Bottle @ Willems Grobbendonk, Belgium. Lovely appearance. Pours cloudy golden with a full white head and lacings. Wauuw. Nose is fresh hops. Mega fresh hops. Lovely pine and grapefruit. Smooth, dry and crisp with a mild yeasty note. Funky, hoppy and dry. Niceness.

330ml bottle (Punavuoren Ahven, Helsinki)
Maybe the previous hop-bomb has killed my palate, but this is relatively bland. Sticky hop aroma, a fair bit of alcohol and heady esters too. Nice orange, can be poured clear, but the yeast comes over early, so take care. Small tight white head. Simple Belgian blonde body, but with a huge emphasis on the hops. Bitingly bitter, but not in a way that is well integrated with the overall taste. Too much alcohol in the mouth too. Numbs the mouth, but it’s not an interesting or welcome sensation. Something watery about it too, oddly. Had to fight to finish the bottle, and didn’t like having to ingest so much alcohol in the process. This has cut my will to tick more beers today. Basically an unexceptional belgian ale with a pile of additional biting bitter hops. Meh. And too much alcohol.

Bottle, 7.3%. Weak chalk and citric hop aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. Very big stable foamy chalk white head. The flavour is citric and grapefruity from the hops, I guess. Citric and bitter, but also has a little mango.

Benzai (15433) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 19, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 22, 2012 33cl bottle thanks to Dutchdrebus. Hazy, a bit cloudy yellow color, full sized rough, a bit soapy white head that lasts and leaves a small lacing. Smell malts, only lightly some hops, pretty sweet and a bit yeasty. Taste malts, some hops, again a bit sweet, medium bitter. Medium carbo, medium body.
