Tap. Pours clear black, small creamy beige head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Aroma is pretty much straight roasty with a side of ashtray. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, roasty, coffee grounds. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Pleasant.

Looks nice, black w/beige head. Nice lacing. Smells a touch of roast and chocolate. Tate, licorice right up front. Then beer runs very thin, almost watery and ends with a big ash flavor. Not my favorite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On nitro at the brewery. Large roasted malt notes throughout. Dark black stable tan head. Caramel and a slight sour note. Nice little beer.

On tap at Hoppers pouring up deep dark mahogany with lasting tight tan head. The aroma offers up spicy anise and black licorice slowly giving way to some dark roasted maltiness. The taste is largely dark roasted malts moving into brief moments of sweet fruity esters and then thin layers of spicy black strap molasses and dark roasted coffee.

on tap 7/23/10. porter colored mahogany brown with a tan nitro head which lasts the duration. pleasant aroma of dry roast, smoke, dust, black raisins and a nutty/chocolatey/coffee thing. the flavor is the same with a bittered finish and lingering rubbery aftertaste. watery nitro body and dead mouth feel. im sure this would be greatly improved with good ol co2... 6/3/6/2/12/2.9

On tap @ Hoppers. Pours a clear dark brown color with a creamy tan head that lasts and leaves drippy lacing. Aroma and flavor are a bit too light for the style, but include dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and light nutty hops. Almost creamy on the palate, but just a bit too thin to pull it off. Nothing bad or off in the brew, just not quite enough of what is there.
