On nitro at the brewery. Large roasted malt notes throughout. Dark black stable tan head. Caramel and a slight sour note. Nice little beer.

On tap at Hopper’s pouring up deep dark mahogany with lasting tight tan head. The aroma offers up spicy anise and black licorice slowly giving way to some dark roasted maltiness. The taste is largely dark roasted malts moving into brief moments of sweet fruity esters and then thin layers of spicy black strap molasses and dark roasted coffee.

Tap. Pours clear black, small creamy beige head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Aroma is pretty much straight roasty with a side of ashtray. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, roasty, coffee grounds. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Pleasant.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2008 On tap at Hoppers. Pours a dark brown with a thick nitro head. A nice burnt malt and roasted aromas. The taste is like a Guinness replica, a roasted dry malt with some hints of chocolate and hops. Not bad at all. A full and creamy mouthfeel that leaves your palate clean and fairly dry. Makes me want many more.

NABA Beer Fest 03: Very acidic with lots of chocolate undertones. Especially dry on the palate but coating in the mounth. Tastes and looks nitro charged but I double checked to make sure it wasn't.

On tap @ Hoppers. Pours a clear dark brown color with a creamy tan head that lasts and leaves drippy lacing. Aroma and flavor are a bit too light for the style, but include dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and light nutty hops. Almost creamy on the palate, but just a bit too thin to pull it off. Nothing bad or off in the brew, just not quite enough of what is there.

This is a decent nitro brew that I had on tap out of thier brewery location in Midvale. I wasn’t overly impressed but it did have a lot of darkness to it. I would consider it a poor mans gunisses which I’m not a big fan of either.

on tap 7/23/10. porter colored mahogany brown with a tan nitro head which lasts the duration. pleasant aroma of dry roast, smoke, dust, black raisins and a nutty/chocolatey/coffee thing. the flavor is the same with a bittered finish and lingering rubbery aftertaste. watery nitro body and dead mouth feel. i’m sure this would be greatly improved with good ’ol co2... 6/3/6/2/12/2.9
