In a collaboration with Fanø Brewery on Fano Island in Denmark, we created an Imperial Stout recipe to satisfy our own deepest desires. Brewing it on this picturesque summertime vacation island is how Natasha started, and of course we couldn’t wait to brew it at Hoppin’ Frog! The result is Natasha Rocks America - a rich, hoppy Imperial Stout with the deep-roasted, smooth flavor of Chocolate Rye malt. And, Natasha is generously dry-hopped with the perfect mix of select American hops, adding a great hop character to this super-tasty Imperial Stout collaboration brew.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2013 Pours black with a half finger length of a reddish mocha color that disispates quickly and leaves a nice lacing. Smells is an excellent mix of hops and stout qualities. Get the floral, little bit of grapefruit or cherry, and a little pine from the hops. At the same time, get lots of roasted qualities, dark chocolate, maybe a little coffee, vanilla, little rye from the stout side of it. Smells like an interesting berry chocolate smell overall. Taste starts with a lot of hop qualities. Get the floral, a lot of grapefruit, some kind of berry. Also get some roastiness, but not too much. Then the middle, get a nice dose of carmel or toffee, as well as some milk chocolate and some spicy rye. The hop qualities stay around, but a very creamy texture comes about. I’m guessing some oatmeal added to its creaminess and smoothness. Finish is very complex with some berry and grapefruit, dryness from the hops, as well as some roasted coffee and chocolate, perhaps some vanilla. Get a good amount of sweetness from the carmel or brown sugar flavors. A little spicy rye as well. A high medium body with a great creamy mouthfeel and carbonation. This is an extremely interesting beer that mixes an IPA with a stout beautifully in my opinion. Well done.

Dry hop piney and chocolate aroma. Poured deep brown-black with an off-white head. Well-hopped piney flavor that becomes roasty-chocolatey with a rye bite; and interesting and evolving flavor like an everlasting beer gobstopper! Notes: Bottle pour at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting 8, during GABF Week 2016.

Bottle; Pour is murky brown - a slightly over carbed khaki head - it retains well, though it’s not very pretty. The aroma reveals some char, molasses, and licorice root, with some mineral water. The flavor profile reveals both the rye notes and the bittering hops - Both seem over zealous here when coupled cocoa and the char - but it eventually makes way to a sweeter, and velvety backdrop of molasses, brown sugar, feint dark fruits, and finishing off with a dry and bitter ending.

Pours a jet black. Aromas of espresso/chocolate and roasted malts. Taste dark roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate malt with a nice bitter bite.

Malziger, dunkel getreidiger Antrunk. Weich und trocken, intensive Schokoladenaromen. Würzig malziger Mittelteil, der Roggen kommt stärker zur Geltung. Vollmundig schokoladig bitterer Nachgeschmack, trocken, Nuancen von Alkohol zum Ende. 13/11/11/12/9/12

Pitch black, oil slick looking deep body with hardly any head at all, sho5wing about 95% opacity. Aroma of chocolate, deep roasted malts, licorice, vanilla, oak, rye, cream and some strong fruit sweetness - deep and super pungent. Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavours show with anise, licorice, canella, cream, light chiles and a touch of oak. Aftertaste shows, interestingly enough, some watery flavours, but the deep roasted malt, earth, grain, rye, chocolate and coffee really come through as well - interesting. Overall, a well-balanced stout, but I wouldn’t say this is ’imperial’, but that perhaps is a good thing. Deep and strong flavoured with a good look and smell, and nice set of complexities. Good to try and interesting, but of course, on the expensive side. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Leuken’s Liqour in Dunedin, Florida on 03-October-2015 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington a few hours before a winter storm may come through here on 21-January-2016.

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent (I think) consumed at Thistledown Farm campsite Friday 11th September 2015 with Baz. Pours black with a light beige head. Wonderfully rich and velvety with chocolate the prominent flavour, it really is hugely cocoa forward but damn good quality addictive cocoa, a little fine sediment mouthfeel. I am amazed that I had not rated this before as I’d had this perhaps a couple of times. Malty with the hops (pine) also now showing, also like the fact that compared to many Impy Stouts this is actually not that strong. Really like this, beer of the weekend. A8 A4 T8 P5 Ov16 4.1

Bottle. Huge black pour with an even larger head. Semi sweet with resinous notes. Thick. Brushing and brutal like a creampie gangbang. Thick. Finished bitter on a spiced rye note. Decent enough.
