Very nice spicy rye notes, with just a touch of roast behind it. Pours an opaque black with a full light brown head. The flavor is very rye heavy, with a bitter hop finish. The roasted notes just come back at the very end of the finish. Slightly thin mouthfeel, but a very long lingering finish. Quite a tasty beer if you like rye and hops.
Aus der Flasche im 2015-11 getrunken. Rye Stouts können ja recht anstregend werden, aber hier haben die Braumeister aus Ohio und Fanø ihr mit Schokoladen-Roggen-Malz Stout sehr harmonisch hinbekommen. Auch hier lohnt es sich dieses Bier nicht zu kalt zu trinken. Dry hop piney and chocolate aroma. Poured deep brown-black with an off-white head. Well-hopped piney flavor that becomes roasty-chocolatey with a rye bite; and interesting and evolving flavor like an everlasting beer gobstopper!

Bottle; Pour is murky brown - a slightly over carbed khaki head - it retains well, though it’s not very pretty. The aroma reveals some char, molasses, and licorice root, with some mineral water. The flavor profile reveals both the rye notes and the bittering hops - Both seem over zealous here when coupled cocoa and the char - but it eventually makes way to a sweeter, and velvety backdrop of molasses, brown sugar, feint dark fruits, and finishing off with a dry and bitter ending. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2016

Pitch black, oil slick looking deep body with hardly any head at all, sho5wing about 95% opacity. Aroma of chocolate, deep roasted malts, licorice, vanilla, oak, rye, cream and some strong fruit sweetness - deep and super pungent. Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavours show with anise, licorice, canella,cream, light chiles and a touch of oak. Aftertaste shows, interestingly enough, some watery flavours, but the deep roasted malt, earth, grain, rye, chocolate and coffee really come through as well - interesting. Overall, a well-balanced stout, but I wouldn’t say this is ’imperial’, but that perhaps is a good thing. Deep and strong flavoured with a good look and smell, and nice set of complexities. Good to try and interesting, but of course, on the expensive side. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Leuken’s Liqour in Dunedin, Florida on 03-October-2015 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington a few hours before a winter storm may come through here on 21-January-2016.
