UPDATED: JUL 2, 2011 Bottle. Black with a minimal brown head forming in a ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is wonderful, smoother and rounder than the regular Boris: port, vanilla, chocolate pralines, perhaps Mozartkugeln. Taste: raisins, chocolate pralines, liqueur, port, sweet, round flavours. Creamy and oily body. Definitely a sipping beer. Great!zizzybalubba (1861) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - APR 21, 2011
Bottle. pitch black, creamy light brown head. Aroma: oatmeal cookies with chocolate. Taste: chocolate, raisins, oatmeal cookies, vanilla, toffee.
22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Pours black with a thin brown head. Amazing aroma of vanilla, coconut, oak, and booze with faint notes of chocolate. The flavor is everything you would imagine; rich dark chocolate and roasted coffee are the dominant flavors but there is enough oak, vanilla, and coconut to give this the extra character I had hoped for. The mouthfeel is creamy and the alcohol is just enough to smack you in the face and let you know it’s there but not enough to knock you on your ass. World class and worth every penny. Love the intensity of vanilla mahogany cinnamon raison spices and i don’t know how to thank Ron for this beer! Besides paying him back! Dark pour, velvet texture, wood well represented and good balance of maltt sweetness and bitter hops: i don’t think it gets any better than this. Vanilla a bit much for me but love this beer!!!! I could spend all day on how eloquent and complex the aroma is. GandGKevin (934) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - AUG 22, 2011
Aromas of deep dark chocolate and Italian espresso roast coffee. Pours? More like glops into the glass. Black hole black with a very small brown head. Rich, thick mouthfeel. Dark chocolate with peanuts and dark roasted coffee flavors with a touch of whisky. Coats the mouth with a finish that lasts for minutes. Overall freakin delicious! This has became one of my favorite beers of all time. This is so smooth and delicious. Dark and sexy. Dry and full flavored. Easy to drink. Nothing really wrong with this.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2012 This beer might be the best thing to come out of Akron, Ohio since The Black Keys. I honestly don’t know what I can say that hasn’t already been said about the deluge of award this beer has one, but it’s freaking delicious. Smoooooooth, with a malty sweetness and deceptive complexity. I am extremely pleased to be able to pick this up in the neighborhood. Not much to be say that hasn’t already been said, except to say its a strong contender for the for the best stout out there. arkotramathorn (41) - Eau Claire, USA - OCT 2, 2012
Poured oily black with thin tan head, beer kept its carbonation for a long time. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Taste was very sweet and bitter pike coffee, enjoyed this drink with some brownies that use this same beer in the batter and the glaze on top. Extremely rich and decadent dessert. Outstanding beer. cernjoh (183) - Ohio, USA - JUL 1, 2014
One of my favorite beers all time. Poured from a 2013 bottle. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. Appearance is like old engine oil with a one finger tan head that dissipates to a small ring. Taste is chocolate, vanilla, coffee, oak, and bourbon. Palate is very smooth almost silk like. A great brew from Ohio. Cheers! alex_leit (3637) - Minsk, BELARUS - MAR 4, 2015
Draft on BierCab, Barselona. Black as oil. Aroma: smoked whiskey, oak and vanilla. Taste: very cool coffee with cream and whiskey, ice cream. Great stout. BenL8 (179) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 19, 2016
Wow. Awesome. 75cl bottle at home. Appearance is completely inky black, with a tiny layer of foam around the edge of the glass. Aroma is incredibly complex, I smell the aromas of the barrel well. Very deep and roasty, plums and other dark fruit, intense coffee, some chocolate, spicy. Liquorice stands out. It’s a great and very intense aroma. Thick mouthfeel, silky and smooth. Taste is also intense, lots of dark malts create a beautiful complexity of flavours. Coffee and chocolate are still around but not as intense as in the aroma. Extremely full bodied. Brilliant beer, one of the best BA imperial stouts I’ve tasted.
