COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged in bourbon whiskey barrels to add a wonderful complexity to our massive American Double Imperial Stout. This barrel aging imparts memorable buttery, vanilla-like, and savory whiskey character, making this one of our most complex beers we’ve ever brewed. Another testament to our hard work and dedication in bringing our customers the very best.

200 ml. draft @ Billiees Bier Kafétaria. This is the most expensive draft beer that I have ever purchased at 9 euro for 200 ml. Classical appearance, black, creamy tanned head. Nose is intense thick sweet mocha chocolate, pure pie, brownie and molasses, vanilla, huge pleasant chocolate brownie sweetness even though no clear bourbon. Taste is sweet mocha chocolate caramel, vanilla, chocolate brownie, thick molasses, sugar, cake. Body is thick creamy chocolate & low molasses. Utterly wonderful sweet RIS desert beer, lovely surprise given some lesser experiences with Hoppin’ Frog RIS beers, looking at my score of the base version, the price point might have led to myself justifying this in my head. A definite possibility, I really enjoyed it. I am a sucker for the style. My complaint about the base was the bitterness, bourbon definitely rectified that.

Pitch black, tan head. Aroma of vanilla, roasted malts, brown sugar, alcohol, wood. Sweet flavour, brown sugar, umami. Sweet finish, roasted malts, wood, soy sauce, brown sugar, fruity, alcohol. Nice, but boy - it’s sweet.
(from draught @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria, birthday visit)

From bottle acquired at FLASK. Pours a pitch black with a nice tan head. Aroma has intense roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, dark berries, light soapy?? But not in a bad way.. rather complex. Taste is sweet, sticky, intense, bourbon, bitter. Not as "easy drinking" as DORIS. Full body and a medium low carbonation. Really nice!

Pours black with thin brown head. Dark chocolate, coffee bitterness, a perfect amount of whiskey flavor from the barrel. Whiskey creates a vanilla and caramel flavor. Really enjoyable and easily drinkable. Very mininal alxohol warmth.

@RBB Black pour. Sweet leaning dark fruits, roast malt, cocoa and booze. Smooth for the strength, though the abv shows. Nice sipper.

Barrel aged variant of Doris the Destroyer, shared bomber at the New Year’s Reception of Gentse Biervereniging. Thinnish but moussy, deep greyish beige head, dissolving in the middle but stable on the edge, jet black robe. Classic BA stout aroma of melting ’fondant’ chocolate, coffee grounds, charred wood, bourbon, toffee, glue, leather, hazelnut, wet wood, beef stock cubes. Sweetish fig and raisin in the onset, some sourish blackberry-like flavors as well as a thick edge of beefy umami, softish carbo, thick oily and creamy mouthfeel. Thick layers of toffeeish, nutty and black chocolate malts in the middle, very roasted and coffeeish bitter in the end with spicy hops, oaky tannins including some retronasal vanilla, fusel alcohol as well as actual bourbon-like booze. Boozy, uncompromizing but still very chocolatey and elegant, I love these big Hoppin’ Frog stouts and this is no exception.

At RBBest. Pours pitch black with a lacy foam. Aroma is strong vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Body is strong and heavy, boozy and intense. Works quite well.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2017 Tap@: pours oily black with creamy brown head. Aroma-flavor: intense roasted grain, dark malts notes, which takes on dark chocolate, cacao nibs, coffee, molasses, vanilla, gentle and perfectly balanced bourbon note. Body is full, texture creamy, carbonation is low. Perfect!

[Kran BrewDog Warszawa] Wygląd: Czarne, nieprzejrzyste, piana niska. Aromat: Bardzo złożony, wiele się tu dzieje: dominuje beczka, wanilia, migdały, w tle wchodzi RIS, czyli dużo gorzkiej czekolady oraz kawa, na końcu trochę alkoholu. Smak: Sporo gorzkiej czekolady, wanilia, trochę kawy. Pełne, bardziej wytrawne niż słodkie. Podsumowanie: Bardzo dobry RIS, do ideału trochę brakuje, lecz z pewnością warto.
