Bottle. Pours jet black, minimal head that fizzles away, looking cola-like. Oily with nice legs. Aromas of anise, light char, light oak, cocoa nibs, a hint of vanilla and wafting bourbon. Taste has a thick-molasses feel. Sweet out of the gate, but a nice toasty character emerges to carry some anise, vanilla and the bourbon/oak. Nice hefty mouthfeel lets this linger on the palate. Finishes with another hint of molasses, dark fruit and vanilla. Medium bitter. Nicely done beer!

660 ml bottle (bomber), bottling date 2015-01, vintage. Poured into the snifter. Aroma: soy sauce, very intense belgian pralines, dark chocolate, vanilla. Apperance: jet black, totally unclear with none to minimal head. Taste: WOW! This is what I’ve been looking for in RIS for the whole time. HUGE vanilla. Belgian pralines. Dark chocolate. Soy sauce. Heavy sweetness, medium to heavy, lingering bitterness. Palate: Very full bodied, this is a heavyweight player, oh yeah. Oily, creamy, thick and slicky. Totally flat! Long, bitter chocolate-coffee finish. I’m starting to repeat myself. WOW. Two years after bottling have done the job right. This is truly one of the best three beers I’ve EVER drunk in my life.

Alpha10 (758) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2017
2017/02/25 - Pours jet black with a thick, frothy, tan head that quickly reduces and lightens in colour, leaving minimal lacing. Aroma is lots of toffee, brown sugar, coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, wood, vanilla and whisky. Taste is toffee, licorice, vanilla and whisky up front with a chocolatey, woody, roasted coffee finish. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with low carbonation and a bittersweet, toasted, warming finish. The aroma and taste of this beer are great, but the creamy mouthfeel and warming cocoa finish are what make this beer stand out for me. I will definitely seek this one out again. Really great stuff.

Ziet er fantastisch uit. Mooie donkerbruine kraag. Massieve smaak met koffie, vanille. En zeer vet mondgevoel. Prachtig.
