Clear medium to dark red - orange amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, spicy, christmas spices, "brunsvier" (the one from fyn Mads K), maple syrup, cinnamon. Flavour is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, maple, cinnamon, chrismas spices, alcohol - sprit, brunsvier. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
22oz bottle saved since last year, shared with friends on New Year’s Eve. Clear darker red color. Light tan / khaki head. Couple dots of lace. Nice spice and whiskey nose. Baked apple and cinnamon. Bigger body. Light smooth and crisp carbonation. Lightly viscous aftertaste. Nice light warmth. Nice balanced whiskey and spice aftertaste. Spicy - sweet taste, light bitter. Great christmas beer, the whiskey barrel is an interesting and tasty twist. tmoreau (4368) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Shared bomber at Lunar Brewing Co., and poured to snifters with a murky, orange/cinnamon color, light amount of off white/light tan head foam, and sparse spots & streaks of lacing. The aroma was very spicy, with cinnamon and ginger dominating, followed by some complementary apple notes. The flavor was as expressive as the nose, with non-cloying sweetness, and some tartness. Medium bodied, with low carbonation. A perky, surprisingly tasty, seasonal brew. annunz123 (957) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Very pleasant cinnamon/clove aroma, although in truth it smells more like a candle than a beer. Flavor is milder than I expected given the aroma, with a sweet, bready base, and a sweet, spicy, cinnamon finish. Very good, but a little on the gimmicky side.

Bottle:   Deep amber, very dark, moderate off-white head, spotty lacing.   Spicy nose of nutmeg and cinnamon.   Minor ginger.   Smells like a Pumpkin Beer to me.   Spicy start, just as the aroma.   Fades quickly, seems pretty shallow, lacking in depth and body.   Seems a hollow example, smells decent, starts out decent, but fades fast and is really made up of two ingredients, nutmeg and cinnamon.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   I get no Whiskey like experience from the barrel aging.   I take that back, perhaps a very very faint bourbon experience well after the finish.   Lacks body, depth, and satisfaction.   Damn, and I really wanted to like this thinking it would be something special.   Thanks for the bottle Jason! bluejacket74 (1992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2012
22 ounce bottle. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a reddish/brown color with maybe a half inch light tan head that fizzled away quickly. There’s a small amount of lacing. Aroma is very, very spicy. The brew smells like nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread, and some oak and vanilla. But the spices overpower the whiskey in the aroma. Taste is similar to how it the brew smells, but there’s a better balance between the spice and whiskey flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick with low/moderate carbonation. Overall I think the brew is still too spicy for me, it just gets worse and worse the closer I get to finishing the bottle. I don’t think I cared for the regular version either, but I do like this version better as it doesn’t seem as spicy in comparison as the barrel aging mellowed out the spices some. Worth a try if you’ve never had it before. $13.99 a bottle. JStax (6504) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Poured from a 22 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. Aroma has notes of wood, bananas, and gingerbread. Taste is sweet and loaded with bananas and spiced fruits. Sweet and mellow spice. Very nice. LeRose (73) - Massachusetts, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Poured a reddish brown with a quick fizzy head that didn’t last. Aroma was Christmas cookie kitchen. Cinnamon, nutmeg, slightly fruity on the nose. Taste seems a bit out Of balance. Spice heavy and needs to be sweeter to balance. Clear cinnamon, nutmeg, hint of clove, gingerbread. Picking up some raisin or prune notes. Drying on the palate, not thick on the mouth feel. Some aftertaste that persists and gingerbread like, some molasses sweetness, flavor of dates, warmth, whisky Better as it warms. It was OK, not a fave. 650ml bottle. Clear deep dark red colour with small to average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, off-white head. Spicy aroma has lots of cinnamon, some orange, in the background typical whiskey flavours: vanilla, leather. Taste is a moderately sweet, slightly inharmonic conglomeration of the same flavours, additionally hints of alcohol. In spite of the plethora of flavours almost a bit watery.
