Pours brown and hazy. Very christmassy aroma of gingerbread, cinnamon, cloves and bourbon. Flavour of gingerbread, wood, bourbon and plenty of spices too. For me this the almost perfect christmas beer. How could I not give a beer like this a good review? valpoaj (744) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Sample FOBAB ’12 - Deep amber pour w/ small head. Aroma is very spicy with clove and peppery notes. Flavor is similarly spicy with some whiskey and woody notes in the background - pretty intensely spiced. Palate is similarly full and flavor is long lasting - not my cup of tea to be perfectly honest, but I seem to appreciate that this is well done regardless. Bottle. Pours clear deep amber with a medium beige head. The aroma is lots of spices like cinnamon, ginger and cardemon. Light oak. The flavour is spicy and lots of malt. Fruity and light hoppy. A true xmas brew. Much like the unbarreled version.

Bomber. Poured deep coppery-amber with a yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up sweet whiskey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves over toasted biscuity malts.. some caramel too.. lots of components I enjoy, but it sure was mighty sweet. The flavor found tart whiskey and oak on the tip of the tongue with toasted caramel and biscuity malts following.. lots of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg laced throughout.. tartness, sweetness, and spices fought each other on the big finish. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. again there was a lot of stuff I enjoy in there, but too much of just about all of it.

22oz bottle 12/6/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-45° in Snifter-Pours a dark amber with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of bourbon and spices. Taste of spices, malt, sweetness, smoke, and vanilla. This full bodied brew is a nice mixture and I agree with a previous rater that people will either hate it or love it and I am another lover. Great brew. beerisgoodforu (992) - Nørresundby, DENMARK - DEC 4, 2012
Bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper/ruby red color with a small off white head. Aroma is of cinnamon, peppernødder, brunkager, ginger bread or ginger snap cookies, spiced christmas cake, peppery notes, cookie dough, ginger, oak and whiskey. Flavor is again of peppernødder, brunkager and other christmas cookies like ginger bread, spiced christmas cake, cinnamon, ginger and other spices, honey and some faint dark fruit in your first sip along with the oaky whiskey notes and a touch of vanilla. The body is medium with a very smooth mouthfeel. This beer is just the essence of christmas in a glass and the barrel balances out the spices a bit more, than the regular version. Its either a beer you hate or love. I love it! thewolf (12600) - Kolding, DENMARK - DEC 1, 2012
Bottle, bought @ hop-head.dk. Pours cloudy chestnut with a small, fizzy, off-white film head. Aroma has lots of spice, coriander, cardemum, cloves, berries, caramel, raisins, mild whisky. Highish carbonation, oily and light dry mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, caramel, mild chocolate, dry oaky, sweet malty whiskey, nutmeg dryness. A bit much.
