22oz bomber from Herchick poured into a snifter. Thanks Bob! Pours a very dark ruby, almost brown with almost no head. Aroma is mostly whisky with a good dose of Christmas spice! Taste is light sweet. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and other winter spices along with dried apricot and pineapple...and of course whisky. Reminds me a lot of cold glogg, just the way my grandma used to make it. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, awesome. I’m going to have to find a bottle of this around Christmas to share with the Swedish side of the family.

22 ounce bomber bottle shared. Very thin beige head. Dark amber in color. Smell the spices. Smooth. Quite good, sweet, flavorful. Slight bourbon, vanilla taste. Very nice beer! Cheers

2017/12/24 - Pours a hazy amber brown colour with a thin off white head that quickly reduces and leaves no lacing. Aroma is heavy spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, clove, anise), caramel, cranberry, wood, vanilla and tobacco. Smells like a mix of mulled wine, spiced cider and ale. Taste is slightly tart cranberry, sweet toffee, cinnamon, vanilla, wood, ginger, and nutmeg. Mouthfeel is medium with lightly biting carbonation and a sweet, lightly tart finish that is mildly warming. Really interesting. Not at all what I had expected and nothing like any other Christmas ale I’ve every tasted, but it grows on me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark reddish brown colored with a white head. Aroma is caramel, cinnamon, various spices, chocolate. Medium bodied, cinnamon and dark malt flavors dominate. Bleh, it's ok.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2017 Pours a nice dark brown from a bottle, minimal off-white lacing. Compared to the non-BA stuff, aroma is a bit less candy-like, more of a rum with some nice vanilla bean and oak, light cinnamon stick. Flavor is cinnamon and vanilla, a bit of rum. Good beer.

I drank the not-barrel-aged yesterday and then drank the barrel aged version today. Both 22 oz. bottles. I liked the first but the barrel aging did some real good. the spices were blended more smoothly into the mix. That slight bourbon taste really elevates this beer to the next level. Oh so Christmasy! I don't generally like "stuff" in my beer, but for the holidays? Sure. It's the beer equivalent of mulled wine and it's not a bad thing. Malty, spicey and really fun.

Pours into a snifter a blood copper color with sparse foam. Scent of whiskey soaked gingerbread are strongly prevalent. The flavor is hearty and malty, hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Back end is smooth, yet has slight Kentucky burn. Much superior to the Boris bb Stout in terms of complex bourbon barrel nuance and palate. A solid seasonal warmer. Cheers Hoppin Frog!

Dark amber/cider color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, & some fruit; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel, molasses/syrup, cinnamon, some nutmeg, fruit, and whiskey/bourbon notes; Warm finish; A bit too sweet - but still pretty decent.
