Pours brown and hazy. Very christmassy aroma of gingerbread, cinnamon, cloves and bourbon. Flavour of gingerbread, wood, bourbon and plenty of spices too. For me this the almost perfect christmas beer. How could I not give a beer like this a good review? jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - JUL 16, 2012
22oz bomber from Herchick poured into a snifter. Thanks Bob! Pours a very dark ruby, almost brown with almost no head. Aroma is mostly whisky with a good dose of Christmas spice! Taste is light sweet. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and other winter spices along with dried apricot and pineapple...and of course whisky. Reminds me a lot of cold glogg, just the way my grandma used to make it. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, awesome. I’m going to have to find a bottle of this around Christmas to share with the Swedish side of the family. TickerTerryDJ (633) - Redditch, Worcestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2013

Bottle from my Secret Santa, thanks Santa Pours a nice deep brown with a bubbly light tan head. The head fades quickly but laces well. Aroma is all christmas spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, just makes you think christmas. Has a light but good carbonation. The flavor is awesome, cinnamon spice and very smooth. Alcohol is very well hidden. Has a medium body. The texture is thin. Awesome mouthfeel. Great finish with a delightful aftertaste. This is just about the best christmas beer I have ever had. Really glad Santa sent me one but now I need to move to Ohio to get this every year. adster (819) - HUNGARY - DEC 26, 2014
Elég ha elcsípünk pár illatmolekulát a bohókás karácsonyi címkéjű üvegben szunnyadó főzet kitöltése során, s tudni fogjuk: a tengerentúlon értenek hozzá, hogyan kell tartalommal megtölteni a "karácsonyi sör" kifejezést. Nem tudom megállni, hogy ne említsem ehelyütt a Play-Doh játékgyurma semmivel össze nem téveszthető illatát, amit ebben sörben a fahéj, szegfűszeg, szerecsendió keblünkre ölelhető aromái képeznek le. Napokig elszaglászhatnánk az italt, betelni akkor sem tudnánk vele. Isteni scotch benyomások, a whiskey-hordóban történő érlelés legjavát nyújtják a kezdeti pikáns zamatok. Sütőtökös pite, bejgli, dió, mazsola ünnepi hangulatai járják be szánknak minden egyes szegletét, páratlanul izgalmas kortyok által megfestett, fűszeresen vibráló ünnepi ínyencségként ejti rabul ízlelőbimbóinkat.

big thanks to veldrid for surprising me with this brew as part of a package since i couldn’t be in ss this time around. pretty much root beer aged ina whiskey barrel, and in the best way! this is a nice beer, its similar to dark horse 4 elves, but has a nice barrel profile added to it. the appearance is dark brown with a lighter head than is fizzy and fades fast. the nose is awesome, sweet, spicey, and ahint of booze in the end to warm it up. all of this can be said about the flavor as well. very sweet, earthy, and the barrel is not overpowering at all. extra point for being a unique brew. they got it right on this one. UPDATED: FEB 4, 2011 Bottle shared at the "AK to the HB" tasting on 12/30/10: Pours a dark amber-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Thick rings of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and cinnamon. Medium body with a boozy character and flavors of caramel malt, spices and dark fruit. The finish is sweet and malty with a gingerbread aftertaste. Good beer overall. Savvy1982 (1706) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 9, 2011
Bottle, at RBWG 2011. Pours clear brown, thin off-white head, lacing is spotty to poor. Nose is big cardamom/vanilla, with ginger, black pepper, and red fruit. Crazy complex and profound aroma. I am torn as to whether this is the best Christmas beer I’ve ever stuck y nose into, or the bestest... Flavours of cherry-cola, vanilla, pepper, red and black licorice, oak. I HATE Christmas beers, but I adored this brew. Must find me more Hoppin Frog. GandGKevin (934) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JAN 29, 2012

Bottle: The aroma consists of peppermint, cinnamon, ginger, and clove, and faint whiskey. It pours a slightly hazy reddish-orange with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of caramel/toffee. The finish has peppermint, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, and light whiskey. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.
