04-13-2011. 22 oz bomber.
A: Pours pitch black and completely opaque with a huge four fingers of creamy tan head that leaves excellent lacing.
S: Wow, definitely hops. Dominant aroma is a floral hop aroma with big juicy fruit notes. Roasted malt is also apparent in the background but is relatively subdued compared to the hops. Definitely smells like a blend of IPA and stout, I’ve never had a beer that really smelled like this before, very different.
T: From the outset it’s a blend of stout and IPA flavors. Big citrus flavor from the hops, I’m thinking oranges. Malts provide chocolate and roasted flavors. The finish is dry with a strange roasted character, relatively astringent, as I’m progressing through the bomber the finish keeps getting sharper.
M: Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.
O: Pretty good, definitely interesting and different but probably not something I could drink all the time. tmrmwel (2089) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 16, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a finger thick mocha head. Aroma is quite hoppy, but with nice burned notes, lactose and leather. Full creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavour is bitter with orange peel, before lots of roasted malts kick in with notes of tobacco and liquorice. Long bitter finish with eucalyptus, as well as some notes of leather. Rather strange, but very nice. Westchesterco (2043) - mclean, Virginia, USA - AUG 10, 2013
Poured from a bottle it is a black beer with a tan head. The aroma I’d of licorice the taste is the licorice with chocolate and some sherry overtones. Lingers smooth on the palate. Iphonephan (6989) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - AUG 10, 2013
From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours black with a tan head. Moderate coffee and chocolate nose. Flavors of licorice. Effervescent mouthfeel. Slight hoppy bitterness in the finish.

New Beer Distributors, NY 650ml ($6.50): Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some melted sugar, some a little liquor or barrel or something like that, but the hops are very subdued in the aroma. Taste is somewhat sweet, bitterness is around toward the finish and aftertaste. The BORIS vastly overshadows the Hoppin to Heaven in my opinion. Imperial stout cut with IPA. Easy to drink, complex. Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with slight off white head. Aroma of malts and earth. Taste of chocolate and earth with a hint of alcohol. BMMillsy (1788) - Florida, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle to tulip, pours dark brown with a small kahki head. My first black and tan (other than Yuengling). I am assuming this bottle is a little older than is optimal, but that's OK. Aroma is really interesting. Pine and citrus up front with string sweet roasted malt notes and hints of chocolate and molasses. Flavor is big sweet notes, followed by lingering roast. Only a bit of bitter pine, and it is just a bit overly sweet, but not undrinkable. Medium slick mouthfeel with adequate carbonation. Cool beer. jjgmd (2163) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Pours a dark deep black color. Nose is malt and chocolate, with a small scent of alcohol. Taste is well balanced between the hops and malt. Finish is sweet with a mild bitter ending. quaff score 7 / 10
