COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BORIS the Crusher made with coffee from the Hippie Coffee Company in Canton, OH. Freshly roasted coffee flavor and aroma add satisfying levels of complexity to this robust stout, perfectly complimenting its intense, rich roasted character. Cold infusion with whole coffee beans keeps the bitterness low and the flavor high!

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Oily black pour, pretty thick looking with some deep tan edges & a small, silky mocha film resting on top. Aroma is full of burnt, oily coffee beans & spent coffee grounds... Intensely heavy coffee aroma with a backing of roasted malts & a little back-end bitter cocoa dust. Taste reminds me of a more tame, non-barrel version of BCS coffee with the big, oily, thick, deep, roasty coffee bean presence, obviously without the bourbon & wood. Roast, burnt brown sugar, mild ash, a touch of astringency, a slight milkiness in the finish that collides with a hint of bitter malt. Medium bodied, not as thick as I’d imagine. Very nice stout from Hoppin’ Frog, another sweet addition to the BORIS series.

bottle. black. cold, but still lovely intense smooth dark malty roasty, soft sweet coffee beany nose. some vanilly, sweetness just balanced and right. full bodied, super easy for the abv. coffee, the slight salty roasty kind, fresh french. will try to report back as it warms up, but right now it’s behaving extremely well. haven’t had this smooth an impy since the yetis.

update: didn’t change much. didn’t get overly hot or oily, remained drinkable, smooth, with a slight sugary bite. real nice.

Bottle (from beergium). Pours black with dark brownish head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is roast, coffee, sweetness, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, coffe, burnt roast, malt, massive dark chocolate. milky notes. Finish is dark chocolate bitter. Overall: good, but I prefered the regular version. The burnt/over roasted coffee notes are something i don’t like (see also for example Pőhjala Must Kuld Columbia).

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a medium dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, chocolate and mocha; ends slightly bitter and medium dry with roasted malts and coffee.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. The aroma is close to not being there at all. Amazing appearance though. The flavour is insane, with loads of chocolate, mocha and coffee. God, I love coffee stouts.

On tap at Hopaholic Budapest. Black coffee aroma. Silky sweet with bitter coffee. Nice and satisfying even if big bodied and filling. Really cool.
