COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beware! Beware! The Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout will destroy your taste buds like no other. More hops and more malt than BORIS create a super deep roasted and full bodied flavor, making this the great, great grand daddy of all stout styles.

Bottle from Bittermestupid. Pours black with some quickly fading tan head. Aroma is nice chocolate and a little malt. Flavor is chocolate, malts and is blended very well. Their is a small kick that lets you taste the abv at the end. Very nice mouthfeel.

Bottle - well hoppin frog does bitter hoppy beers, and this stout is no different. Has some nice oaky smokiness from the barrel aging and biscuit from the malt. Nice!

Keg Half Pint at Craft 100 Festival at Craft Beer Co, Clapham, London in April 2014 - Pitch Black in colour. Good tan coloured head. Some lacing. Very very Malty; deep roast, roasty/burnt malts, lots of dark chocolate, espresso coffee, liquorice, toffee/caramel, hints of vanilla and smoke. Fruity; dark fruits, raisins. Hoppy; piney hops, very well hopped. Sweet-bitter roasty/burnt malty throughout. Thick and full bodied; quite syrupy. Great depth of roasty flavour. Enjoyed this a lot. Super Impy Stout! No subtlety here. A big punch of chocolate, coffee and raisin sweetness in a thick deep black pour with a fine brown head. The hops don’t hang back either. As elsewhere they make the difference here between a good stout and a great stout - lovely bitter pine notes to take the edge off some of the sweetness. I still needed a couple of glasses of water to get through this though!

Thank you Mathieu87 + PriorL for the effort! Bomber sampled @ Samson en Geert Bierproef Avond. Black, little, almost no head. Nose is very thick licorice, huge bitter roast, almost chemical roast, charred. Taste is far too bitter, almost chemical bitter, roast, hugely roasted mat, charcoal, burned malt, thick malt, roast, charcoal, boozy, molasses. Far too bitter but otherwise pretty decent even if not on par with many other beers within the style.

Black beer with minimum head. Strong and dark aroma has licorice, chocolate, roast and dried fruits. Taste is sweet, licorice, roasted and dark malty with coffee and bread. Long coffee aroma at the end. Full body, sweet, but no too. Oily, no alcohol. Wonderful, even if B.O.R.I.S. was even better.

Bottle. Teku. Pitch black with small to medium, thick, light brown head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma are mainly roasted malts - dark, bitter chocolate and roasted oats, some espresso notes. Lightly caramel notes, along with lightly soy sauce, woody and ashy sensations. In the background very light dark fruits (berries) notes. Taste is medium bitter, it intensifies thru the degustation. You can feel also some lightly acidic notes. Full body, thick & creamy texture, soft to average carbonation, finish is medium bitter, dry, roasted and astringent. Lightly warming. In general once again overrated Hoppin Frog beer. This RIS is solid, based on roasted malts, dry, nicely balanced, but do not deserve 4.0 or above note. But BA version is far more better, gives it complexity and more friendly character by nice vanilla and fruity notes. If you want to spent money only on one of this choose BA version !!

Pitch black in the glass (one of the darkest beer I’ve seen) with a lovely dark tan colored head. Nice viscous lacing. The aroma is complex with huge amount of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and burnt sugar, also dark fruits like dried plums and some toffee sensation. Flavour is deep coffee with dark chocolate, medium sweet and light bitterness but very balanced overall. Again caramel, burnt sugar and hints of licorice in the end. Full body, creamy thick mouthfeel and a soft carbonation. A sipper for sure. Enjoyed it very much.
