COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American hops dominate this Rye IPA, creating an assertive citrus and passion fruit character. An old-world flavor from rye malt adds the perfect compliment to Goose Juice’s big, satisfying hop flavor and aroma. Originally home-brewed by our beloved brewer Goose, its wonderful combination of flavors inspired us to brew this specialty IPA.

No, I didn’t get a case of Westvleteren XII, but I did snag this limited-issue, better-than-expected Rye IPA from Akron.

STYLE: American IPA

ABV: 7%

LOOK: The kind of beer you want to drink. The kind of beer you need to drink. Orange and mellow maroon with a deceptively medium body that from some angles boasts a jelloy consistency. I wish there was more to the head that fizzles quickly as the carbonation, what there is of it, races to the top.

NOSE: Stinky cheese, heavy rye, dog park, and pent-up pine. A more sophisticated Rogue Dead Guy Ale.

MOUTH: It might be the mood I’m in. I don’t miss the hops, even though I was promised – indeed, induced by – an aggressive dose. It’s smooth, earthy, smooth. And I think I’m starting to fall for All Things Rye. There’s more here of course: grass, chives, and balance. The texture, among other things, will bring me back, somewhere in the fine line between wholesome and chewy. Excellent.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, orange, overripe fruit, pine, bread, hops, citrus and skunk.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque amber/orange beer with medium yeast and with a medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, orange, overripe fruit and pine; ends slightly bitter and medium dry with bread, hops, citrus and skunk

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. A really odd aroma and flavour, but it works somehow. Very sweet and almost Barley Wine like at the start, balanced by an extremely hoppy finish with loads of dry bread. The lasting medium head makes the aroma weaker than it could have been. Great, but weird, beer.

A nice orange colour, a head is quite big and blond. Aroma has strong tropical fruitness, pineapple, mandarin, fruit candies, fructose. Rich with a fruit meat. Taste has tropical fruitness, grapefruits, good maltyness, some herbal like spicyness, maybe the origin is the used rye. A bitterness is slightly slow but then nice, medium and long lasting. Medium+ bodied, quite smooth. Very nice aroma, taste has also maltyness, balanced and succesfully.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2016 Piwo ma złotą barwę, jest bardzo mętne, w szkle pływa bardzo dużo białych farfocli. Aromat to bomba owocowa: dużo słodkich cytrusów, melona i nuty tropikalne.
