The caramel color starts the journey that this beer takes you on. The head is minimal and dissipates quickly. The aroma lets you know this is a malty beer. Then you take that first drink and you get the malt flavor up front followed by a slight yeasty flavor that reminds you this is a small batch brewery. The finish completes with a hint of cherries that you expect with a malty beer. Craftmember (41) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 22, 2015
Bottle bought at the Hoppy Loft Brussels.
It pours a misty red amber with a small tanned head.
A very rich and nicely complex aroma with above all sweet malts, liquorice, vanilla, hay, hops, touch of silty soy-sauce and smoked meat.
Taste is intriguingly complicated too with meaty sweet and roasted malts, honey, vanilla, fruity citrus notes, umami, sweet meats, bayleaf, some hopbitterness and a nutty madeira like, silt edged aftertaste with a hint of cocosbread and white pepper. It’s got a fizzy though smooth, light oily mouthfeel.
Oh what a wondrous brew this is. Love it very much indeed! mike_77 (7029) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - OCT 4, 2016
Deep red colour with thin head. Aroma is full of candy sweetness. Flavour too has candy and red fruit syrup. Sweet but very drinkable. caesar (7170) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 6, 2013
Tap @ Fermentoren. Clear copper color, short head. Aroma of lots of caramel malt, lots of raisin as well (special B?). Shows a bit more yeast character than most German Doppelbocks. Very malty in taste, not too sweet, not too bitter. Pretty good stuff, though clearly not a German product. fitwitchik (433) - Ohio, USA - SEP 7, 2014
Poured from a 2013 bottle into a snifter cloudy amber red with a thin beige head.
Aroma is sweet malts. Molasses.
Flavor is like a brown sugar toasted caramel with a slight bready finish.
Smooth medium body to the palate. A year of age just sweeten the package even more. A beautiful Dopple!!!

Bomber. Huge malt aroma with toffee and caramel malt as well as a bit of toasted barley. Pours caramel colored with a thin tan head with little retention or lacing. Starts with rich caramel and toffee flavors and sticky sweetness. Finishes smooth with sticky sweet caramel an toffee. Excellent, malt bomb of a bock! jesperhammer (4875) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 29, 2013
27-APR-2013, bottle @home, from Ølbutikken.
Clear brown with quickly dying tan head, leaving a blank and shiny brown/amber. Aroma is alcohol, malt, spice, hops. Taste the same. Sticky sweet, malty, bready. Full body, medium carbonation. Fantastic bock. TheBeerGod (6254) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - AUG 11, 2013
Bottle courtesy of GandGKevin. Thanks Kevin! Copper pour with a short tan head. Aroma is rich chewy malt, strong caramel, toasted dark bread and fruit notes. Taste is chewy caramel, sweet malt, dark bread, dark fruits and sugary notes. This reminds me of an amped up Optimator or a caramel infused Eku 28. Those are two of my favorites! Body is medium but rather chewy with a dense, bubbly carbonation and lots of sugary stickiness. Finishes with more rich, chewy caramel, sweet, sticky malt, dark fruit, toasted dark bread and sugary notes. LOVE THIS! Alengrin (5639) - BELGIUM - SEP 21, 2015
Bottle bought and generously shared by Craftmember, from Delirium Hoppy Loft. Hoppin’ Frogs top-fermented take on the German Doppelbock style. Thin, lacing, stable, pale beige head over a hazy burgundy coloured beer with reddish glow. Rich and beautifully perfumed aroma of melting milk chocolate and Belgian chocolate ’truffels’, hazelnuts, vanilla, touch liquorice, kahlua, caramel, Worcestershire sauce, marmelade, baked banana, madera, marzipan, even a suggestion of coconut. Sweet, soft, fluffy onset, very caramelly, Belgian chocolates, dates, almond, banana cake, umami flavours adding complexity, slight hint of soy sauce, bready malts, smooth with a toasted touch, very light but well-dosed sourishness as well as a light spicy hop bitterness in the end, remaining in the background not to overpower the feast of malts as it ought to be in a Doppelbock, and some warming, bourbon-like alcohol. Adorable, this brewery is gradually conquering the malthead in me... Yayita (49) - - FEB 11, 2016
Extremely well rounded beer. Nice dry finish good residual sweetness, and a delicious bready maltiness... Great job!!
