Sampled during Dark Lord Days ’08 at the guest picnic tables. From 22-oz bomber pours a clear golden pale yellow brew with plenty of bubbles plus a thin and fast dissolving white head that dissipates nearly clean with no lacing or ring. Aroma of tart dark berries, orange zest, and maybe a touch of wheat bread. Taste is semi-sweet, sprtizy with extra carbonation with flavors of raspberries and a touch of tropical fruit. Finish is semi-sweet this a slowly disappearing berry aftertaste that lingers after the finish. Rogueone (506) - I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA - MAY 5, 2008
This is an interesting brew that I can see being enjoyed if the sun is shining, and you’re sweating. Pours a very pale yellow with a quickly dissipating white head. This beer is very fragrant, almost overpoweringly so. Fresh citrus and strong faux raspberry dominate the aroma. Sweet throughout, then mildly bitter, then sweet on the back end with a lingering artificial raspberry flavor. I would pair this beer with food and not attempt to drink it by itself. fiver29 (1112) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - APR 26, 2008
Bottle shared at Dark Lord Day 08. This bottle was a favorite with the group today. The sun was beating down on us all day. This was a refreshing brew that quenched our thirst under a hot sun. Poured a light almost clear color with minimal head. Had strong berry fruit flavors that was very nice. I strongly recommend this beer on a hot day outside or after doing some yardwork. jmikolich (1486) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - APR 25, 2008
22oz bottle, pours like a carbonated fruit pop, taste is artificial and sweet, this beer is just fake and weak, nothing really positive to be said, i was forcing myself to finish the 22oz by myself. even my girlfriend found it too sweet and fake fruit. mcbackus (758) - Merritt Island, Florida, USA - APR 24, 2008
bottle from puddintane this will complete all the hoppin frogs for me: pours an extremely light hay colour very champagne like with a quick white head. aroma starts as an overly sweet berry almost like snow cone syrup, but behind that there does lie some malt and a hint of bread. the flavour is like watered down cough syrup the fruit is sweet and syrupy and the malts are completely deadoned. the palate is left sticky and not fullfilled. i love hoppin frog but they need to stay away from the fruit.

I found this at the local store. Figuring that it had to be worth a shot I picked up a bottle for $6.99. In hindsight that might be a little overpriced if supplies weren’t so expensive. Even so I’m not likely to pick this in favor of a few other standbys. It’s not bad but overall leaves just a little bit to be desired. If you are a completionist for Hoppin’ Frog beers give it a try. If not try to split a bottle with friends.
Aroma / Appearance - The peach colored clear body sparkled in the sunlight. A short lived thin head disseminated raspberry vinegerette and Fruit loops into the open air. Not very complex it wasn’t long before things settled into predictability.
Flavor / Palate - The fluid mouthfeel was thicker than I expected it to be without being cloying. The taste of fruit loops is stronger than the vinegerette which is not evident at all. It tastes like a slightly alcoholic version of Vitamin Water or Listerine. I’m not likely to try this again even though it was a nice change of pace.
Courtesy of Mreusch. Poured hazy yellow with a bubbly white head. Aroma of berries. Great smell. The flavor didn’t really hold up to expectations. Not as much berry as the nose. hopdog (13102) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 26, 2008
22oz bottle acquired in trade with ogglethorp (thanks!). Poured a lighter yellow color with a large sized white head. Aromas of berry-liciousness and a little fruity. Tastes of the same with some wheaty/graininess. Berries definitely dominate. Sweet. Like drinking a sweet berry candy. You have to be in the mood for this one! wetherel (1893) - Cupertino, California, USA - MAR 18, 2008
Bottle from nolankowal on 3/7/08. Lots of berry aroma. Somewhere between coolaid and fruit loops and cough syrup. Pretty nice. Medium body. Leans a bit sweet. Probably popular with the ladies.. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 13, 2008
Bottle thanks to miketd: Pours a transparent golden with a thin ring of spotty white head. Nice aroma of fresh strawberries and blueberries. Body starts about average with some mild fructose sweetness and light grainy maltiness before a dull, candy-like finish. Needs more body and balance, but has some decent fruit character.
