The release of our Turbo Shandy Citrus Ale is around mid June. Born from European tradition, our Shandy is a refreshing combination of lemon and light malt flavors. Unlike traditional shandys, Turbo Shandy, revs it up a couple of notches with a high test, full flavored approach as only Hoppin’ Frog can do.

REVIEW Style: Fruit beer, shandy ABV: 7% Purchased at: Woodman’s Market; Madison, WI. Pour: Blonde pour with a medium white head. Aroma: Lemon fruit scent, maybe some yeast notes as well. Flavor: The sweet lemonade is there. I described it as very close to drinking a Squirt soda. Ratebeer.com rating: 39/100 Beeradvocate.com rating: 79/100 Overall: C+ My recommendation: A hot day, this works well. The only drawback for me, not enough beer flavor and too sweet. A good 22 oz bottle to share with somebody.

Bottle shared by aobecksy and tibeerious at RBWG. Clear light yellow with a white head. Spicy hop aroma. The flavor is sweet and lemony with no bitterness. Citrusy tartness to finish. Totally hides the alcohol.

Bottle shared by aobecksy and tiberious at RBWG. Thanks ’rents! As others have noted below, this was more lemonade than beer. Which was fine at the time, but I did expect a little more from this brewery. Quite sweet, countrytime lemonade with hardly any lager/biscuit malt balance that it needs. Like Leighton said, this is a tough style to pull off.

Definite lemonade. Light on the beer flavor. Slight creosote on the nose, but refreshing.

Bottle at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours clear yellow with a small, white foam head. Sugary lemon nose. Big sweet flavor, light breads malts, sugary lemon candies. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, lightly sticky finish, lingering sweet lemon. Meh, tough style to pull off.

22oz bottle in a tumbler. Pours golden with a small head. Aroma of lemonade, pale malts, light hops, and hints of alcohol. Flavor the same, with a lot of lemonade. Average to light texture. A beer that is not for me.

Fantastic fruit beer. Better than leinenkugels. Surprised me with apricot. Bought in Dec and I expect that makes a difference since its made in june. Citrus. Perfect stereotypical girl beer. Rated high for best in its class.

Pours light golden with almost no head. Smells like lemon ginger ale. Taste is just like the smell: zesty lemon ginger ale. A bit of apricot. Effervescent and refreshing. Good beer for the style, and would be great on a boat on the lake in a hot summer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Borefts Beer Festival IV. Day 2. Post Fest tasting in Jan & Charlottes Room. Clear gold beer, residual white head. Palate is light and dry and crisp. Refreshing lager and lemon. The lemon is quite sharp. Crisp finish. Imperial Shandy?! Refreshing!

Aroma is lemonade, citrus and lemon-lime cola. The flavor is lemon-lime, lemonade, citrus, malts and a tart finish.
