Decent sized tan head of varying sized bubbles. Spicy aroma with some ginger and nutmeg, vegetal aromas, some light roasted grains and grass. Color is a dark amber with good clarity. Spicy flavor as one would expect with lots of ginger and cinnamon, earthy vegetable and straw flavors, light roastyness and some tea leaves. Moderate lingering bitterness late swallow with more spices and a somewhat chalky palate. An ok brew that is heavy on the spice. Not something that I would like to drink regularily. Pours a finger and half of head on a hazy dark red colored body.
The aroma is rich malt, cinnamon and fresh baked bread. Nice.
The taste is super sweet throughout. There are little bits of spice and lemon, but the sweetness is dominating.
The texture is soft with moderate carbonation.
The sweetness is too much for me. boxofrane (2553) - Spring City, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 7, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2013 Draft at beer fest. Hazy copper with minimal white head. The aroma is spices and brown sugar. The taste is dry, bitter, light spices. This was a bit weird, honestly. StefanSD (2451) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - JAN 5, 2011
650ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a hazy copper color with a big foamy off-white head that has good retention. The aroma is mild with piney hops, sweet grains and mulling spices like nutmeg, cloves and allspice. The taste is hops forward with piney biter hops followed by the mulling spices and a good caramel malt backbone. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes somewhat short and clean. Overall: Very tasty Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Bottle thanks to bhensonb. Poured amber with an off white head. Aroma was a huge blend of spices and maybe some dark fruits. Flavor was spice, citrus, Orange, pine, and caramel. Body was medium with medium carbonation.

22 oz bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar. Upon the pouring of this ale, I noticed an immediate aroma of spices and minor notes of hops. The flavor follows along the same lines as the aroma with a delicious serving of spices and hint of nutmeg backed by a moderate serving of hops. Even the appearance was attractive with a delicate fluffy layer of foam for a head paired with a orange color of liquid. I really liked this Christmas offering from Hoppy Brewing and I plan on picking up more around the holidays. Dfonorow (2216) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2014
Orange/red with a finger-wide white head. Aroma of grapefruit, apple juice, nutmeg., and cinnamon. Flavor is sharp on the spices at first, but transitions into a hoppy fruit finish. Spice lingers in the aftertaste. Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - NOV 26, 2007
hazed brown tea colored body with a head that slips to residual quickly. strong spice nose, smells like spruce & perfume. lavender, pine flavor with some cinnamon. over spiced but drinkable. dry finish leaves a mint bubble gum flavor.

GABF: I liked this one even if it was a bit strange. Poured clear light orange/yellow. Spicy aroma with some nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger maybe. Full beige head. Strange mix of hops and all that spice but it works for me. SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 25, 2006
22 oz. bottle from BevMo. Pours a clear deep orange amber with a large off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is sweet and spicy, malty orange, cinnamon and clove giving a mulled cider sort of character. Also sweet and spicy in the flavor, with brown sugar, clove and bittering spices leaving an astringent sensation in the mouth. Medium to full body, gentle carbonation.
