Eden Prairie, MN, Draught - Light mohagany colorwith a dark cream head. Dark malt and toasty aroma. Dark malt flavors. Slight EToH kick that can distract. The best beer sampled at this location Ernest (7714) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 4, 2002
Body is dark brown.
lightly malty (roasted grain, nutty, caramel).
lightly sweet, lightly bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. TheRimmer (483) - Florida, USA - OCT 30, 2002
Basically I thought it Was an over hopped stout. Went great with my sausage and steak. Nothing more can be said really. Almost pitch black color. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - OCT 25, 2002
Fairly dark with little or no head. Slightly sweet, but not very thick. Actually, kind of boring. One of the better brews Hops makes though. Aurelius (5369) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 19, 2002
The best of all the beers in my sampler. While I was expecting some kind of ale, it’s really more of a dark lager. Roasty, grainy and slightly olivine, this was on the verge of passing for a thin porter. Dark brown, fizzy, without much head. It is a beer that demands food -- it did pretty well with the loaded nachos. My favorite Hops brew so far, but that ain’t saying much.

The best of Hop’s offerings but still not great! Nice color & taste. Really good with spicy foods. TheBeerCollector (633) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JUL 9, 2002
My favorite offering from Hops. ............................................ ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JUN 22, 2002
Eden Prairie, MN location: Similar to the Thoroughbred Red, no aroma. Hops must not brew their beers for that feature. Deep, dark red color with small bubble head and pretty good retention. Roasted malt undertones, strong caramel flavor and medium alcohol aftertaste. A good beer that would be even better with a stronger dose of hops. This is Hops’ best beer, although I hope to run across their Big Skeeter Pale Ale when it is ’in season.’ Jfishback13 (273) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - MAY 25, 2002
A good beer with above average flavor and a really good finish. I’ll always love Hops for getting me into less mainstream darker beers, but now that I know how good beer can be, I’ve had to mark it down a bit. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 25, 2002
Faint roasted aroma and a slightly roasted taste. You get the feeling that there’s a good beer trying hard to get out, but what you’re left with is fairly disappointing.
