Hops Restaurant and Brewery Richmond Va Sampler at the brewery. Very light roastyness in aroma. Clear dark amber brown. Slight smoke and roast in flavor. Faint sourness. Light body and mouthfeel with dry roasty finish and low hop bitterness. Rather thin and not as much roast character as I would like. ...draft at Gainesville location. This was the best they had to offer, but wasn’t that great. Decent roasted aroma, but tasted more like cheap coffee. Had a clearish brownish color with a tan, non lasting head. Way too light bodied, lacked flavor and complexity, not a porter. iride15 (237) - Rockledge, Florida, Florida, USA - JUL 19, 2008
Good rich taste and thick in body. Quality palate is not there though as the flavor has attributes of cheap coffee. Oakes (17668) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 10, 2008
Light brown colour. Light chewy toffee nose with a hint of raisin. Palate is Dunkin Donuts coffee and light raisin bread. This one is pretty bad. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 10, 2008
Draught Hops Miami. Billed as "Our Guinness" even though it’s clear medium brown. Sparged grain, husky and watery. More flavor than most other Hops beers from this location. Sweet, husky with slightly sour finish. Yukky.

Draft at Hops (obviously) pours a dark brown with a very thin tan head. Aroma is bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee and malt. Taste is mostly roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee with a touch of bitterness and hops. Smooth, clean finish. Overall not an amazing beer but still pretty decent and a personal favorite among the Hops selections. changeup45 (1731) - Lake Mary, Florida, USA - APR 11, 2008
I’d have to agree with what somebody else said, it seems that the beer does not taste the same everytime. Pretty good taste, if not a little bit rich and thick for me. I only had it a few times, but noticed a couple times that it was more bitter than others. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 16, 2008
I have had this many times on tap at Hop’s restaurants. This is an ok beer, but I liked to mix it with their red beer. By itself it is a middle of the road porter. Head doesn’t last long at all and it has a pertty thin mouthfeel. Not bad, but not great. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 7, 2008
On tap at the Stogie and Stout event, 2008 edition.
Pours deep deep clear amber with mild light mocha head and some sheet lacing. The aroma is light with weak roasted malts mixed with a bit of burnt malts. The flavor is mild too that leans toward the sweet side with some roasted malts mixed with sweet malts and just a mild burnt maltiness. The burnt malts do grow some into the finish and then linger for a while into the after taste. Sessional brew.
