Double meh. Pours a dark brown with goodly light tan head. Scent is grain and tin. Flavor is overly bitter and could use touch more sweet balance. Light-Medium carbonation. Can - Trade for HeffIam Kshlava (56) - - JAN 11, 2014
Pours clear brown. Aroma like kitty litter with a bitter nutty and burnt taste. Sour aftertaste.

Brown body, I think it’s almost clear. Served with small creamy beige lace. Brown malts, cookie dough, biscuit, some cinnamon sweetness, aromatic hop mix to balance a bit. Just clean anough to match the style, but rich enough to be a bit more interesting than most Old World examples are. Juicy body with light toast and doughy malts, hidden alcohol. As expected from the aroma, the palate is nice quite as clean as the classic examples in the style, but does provide a more interesting rounded mouth feel. Nice brew, albeit light so it will never get high scores I think. I would order again though. (On tap at the Liberty Tavern Alt) onceblind (9629) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2013
Hazy dark nutty, with a sticky foamy light beige head. The aroma has huge notes of toast and bread crust. The flavor is crisp and full with a toasty malt undertone, a bit of cereal, and a clean biscuity finish. Semi-sweet throughout, but mostly dark and bready. 12oz can pours dark reddish brown with about 2 fingers of head. Nose is nutty, roasty, fruit notes, bark, soil, wheat bread, pumpernickle. Taste is roasty grain and molasses, toasted bread, nuts, syrup. Finish is bready roasted grain, malt, almond. Good.

12oz can. Brown in color with a large beige head. Aroma is of malt, toast and nuts. Taste is quite nutty, pecan and walnut, with malt, multigrain, and toast. Caytinator (1005) - Waco, Texas, USA - JUL 30, 2013
Pint on tap. Mahogany color, slight lacing, tiny head, translucent. Aroma has hints of caramel, not a hint of bitterness. Dark fruits, alcohols, and malts in the taste. A bit more hops than other altbiers, I like the medium carbonation and body. drinkdallas (21) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 19, 2013
Can from Whole Foods, pours dark red color, very very malty, smells of earth, high quality beer but must be in the mood for the style ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 10, 2013
On tap at Craft and Growler in Dallas. Pour is clear town with a small tan head and decent lacing. Roasty, bready, somewhat grassy, earthy, cocoa, and malt aroma. Taste is roasty, bready, doughy, grassy, earthy, grainy, and husky with a light crisp bitter finish. Light body with high carbonation. OK. moonbug (68) - Bryan, - JUL 6, 2013
Sweet and malty aroma. Chestnut brown. Taste is very hoppy...no sweetness like the aroma hints. Sour hoppy finish...a little sticky. Not too bad, but really not the best beer for a hot day.
