On tap at the Red Hot. Dark hazy amber color. Scent of bourbon and booze. Taste is petty alcoholic. Nice sweet bourbon flavor. Good stuff.

On draught at 2013 Hopworks Biketobeerfest. Deep hazy amber color. Heavy bourbon aroma with maple syrup and caramel notes. Taste is dark malt, caramel corn, bourbon, maple syrup with some oak notes. Smooth syrupy mouthfeel with a dark maple and bourbon aftertaste.

Tap @ HUB Bike Bar... Poured a nice reddish.orange/amber with a thin, light khaki head. This had a great bourbon barrel nose. A bit of heat, but enough complexity to balance. Thick mouthfeel, malty, vanilla sweetness, toffee, wood, oak, charred wood, and whiskey notes. Darn nice. But $8 a pour? Really?

I was told this was different than the Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel Aged Deluxe Organic Ale (DOA) listing that last has ratings in 2010. On tap at the Hopworks Urban Brewery. Pours a cloudy, darker amber colored body with a thin, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is bourbon with a good amount of wood and a sweeter caramel malt backing. Some vanilla, bready toast, touches of butterscotch, and a light raisin note. Flavor is similar. A good amount of bourbon and wood balanced well with a sweeter caramel and bready malt backing. Some vanilla, toffee, toast, and a light raisin again before this finishes mostly dry and woody with a light bitterness, but somewhat sweet with a good amount of vanilla. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty well done barrel aged beer. Lots of bourbon, vanilla, and wood, but balanced nicely with a good amount of rich, sweet malts. Nice beer.
