On tap at the brewery. Hazy amber pour with a short off-white persistent head. Nose is nvanilla, walnuts, almonds and medium-roast malt. Medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation. Walnuts, vanilla, slight bourbon, oak, figs and caramel. A slight booziness enters as it warms, but in a pleasant, stomach-warming way. One of the best barrel-aged beers I’ve ever had and a standout ale in a diverse and difficult style - fantastic! leems (406) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 27, 2010
Tap. Dark amber. Aroma and flavor are pretty in line, sugary sweetness, bread and toast, nice vanilla bourbon note. skortila (5987) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - AUG 8, 2010
West USA trip 2010. On tap @ PIB. Aroma has bourbon, wood, citrus. Hazy, yellow coloured beer with a thin, white head. The taste is little sweet, citric, bit yeasty and has wood and some booze. Nice beer. marcus (10675) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 11, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark copper with a decent off-white head and a sweet malt and bourbon aroma. The barrel aging transformed an average beer (DOA) into something interesting. troopie (2439) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - NOV 16, 2009
Draught. Poured caramel brown with medium white head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel and yeast. Rather flat flavour, some caramel but mostly the barrell, woody and oaky. Rather thin finish.

On tap at H.U.B. Colour... amber-copper. Nose... hoppy and slightly musty(?). Palate... Damn! 100 IBU’s?! Sure it’s not more?! Very sweet, mildly cloying, lots of caramel, piney hops, moderate booziness, plum pudding, vanilla and marshmallow. DalzAle (2038) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - SEP 17, 2009
On tap at Bailey’s Taproom on 9/7/09. Dark amber pour with a good head and aroma of plum, vanilla and of course plenty of bourbon. Flavor was nice and complex with nice (but not overpowering) whiskey booze, oak, vanilla and finished with warm alcohol. Yum. jimmbo123 (44) - Washington, USA - JUL 29, 2009
I tried 13 beers at Portland International Beer Festival, the beers I tried averaged 3 tickets each. This is one was only 2 tickets and one of only three that I would buy again! Not just a bourbon taste over a cheap beer, it’s quality all the way. boFNjackson (4230) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 18, 2009
Tap @ PIB... Poured a deep amber with a white head. Biscuity and pastry sweet malts on the nose. Soft, mild carbonation with buttery malt flavors and a bourbon-vanilla quality. Smooth finish with a leafy character.
