COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gear Up is a Northwest-Style IPA with a dry and tropical-hop profile. The recipe was made to provide a direct line to complex hop aromas and flavors of ripe passionfruit, pineapple, and mango. The beer is also HUB’s first foray into the world of 12 oz. six-pack can.

From a can into a St Bernardus stem. Pours gold with particulates (floaties!), with head and lace. Aroma of rich grains & hops. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of grains, pale malt, minerals, mixed citrus zest, toothpaste. Overall bold, refreshing, odd with the visible mini suspended particulates (can number 70619B1BD), yet for a hop lover it's quite tasty.

It was inevitable that I'd try at least one bike-related hoppy ale at Hopworks. Gear Up IPA has about everything you can associate with Northwestern ales. Hazy golden appearance. Dank tropical aromatics. Bitter, juicy grapefruit and fresh pine needle notes. Oily feel with lots of hoppy brightness. It's a typical IPA for the region, but a very good one for sure.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A nice spicy citrus nose. Toast, big citrus, a soft earthy body, medium bitterness. Easy to drink...a lot of. Solid.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2017 On draft at the brewery (Powell location) Aroma 6/10: pineapple esters Appearance 4 /5: slightly hazy golden with thick and frothy head Palate 3 /5: Fairly heavily carbonated, quite bitter, lacks maltiness Taste 7 /10: very bitter with lemon, floral, and piney notes. Finishes dry and bitter lemon peel. Overall 16 /20: solid West Coast ipa. Hop forward and fresh, but nothing to extraordinary here. Final: 3.6

Very bright in color and taste. The hold stand out in the beer but not in an over bearing floral way. They are just right for a summer beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Fruity nose, with resins, tropical fruit, and citrus oils. Hazy dirty blond color. Stone fruit, tropical fruit, grass, and grapefruit. Bitterness kicks in right away. Medium body and dryish in finish. Very pleasant, middle-range, sort of IPA.
