N: Cocoa, minerals, oats, coffee, smoke, peppercorn, earthiness, some oakiness, toffee and a hint of raisin and clove.
T: Very sweet. Moderating bitterness and smoke.
M: Medium body, some stickiness, a bit of alcohol, crisp carbonation.

The color is almost black, with small to no head. It bases aroma and flavor on some dark and mellow caramel, a bit of dark chocolate, but it suffers for lack of better malt depth; the bitterness is low, the final gets a bit cloying, and the alcohol perception is quite high.
Nothing exciting, but still a good beer.

[2/26/15] Draught at Hopworks BikeBar in Portland. Dark brown. Aroma of caramel, licorice, a bit of chocolate, toffee and dark fruits. Sweet flavor with licorice, caramel, some chocolate, toffee, and some fruitiness. Medium-bodied.

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a black a deep dark mahogany / brown with a small tan head. Nose is heavy on the dark fruits, vanilla and slight cocoa. On draught at Second Annual Humbug Lager Fest at Occidental Brewing. Clear dark brown color. Aroma is sweet syrup, caramel, and toffee. Taste is honey roasted peanuts, cocoa, toffee, caramel, and a hint of grass hops. Balanced sweetness, roasted notes, and a hint of bitter. Roasted chocolate with burnt caramel notes. Deep mahagony with small head. Boozy, caramelly flavor with high alcohol heat on the finish. Thin body and a slickness. Very boozy porter; tastes as those a fair amount of bourbon was added.
