Tap at the Holiday Ale Festival
A: Dark brown color, thin white head.
N: Cherry, lactic acid, some bourbon, vanilla, more lemon, lactose, caramel.
T: Tart, sweet, no bitterness.
M: Light-medium body. Fizzy carbonation. No alcohol.
O: I have had this before, and I must say this, has turned to the sour side. I much preferred it when it was fresh. Ferris (16066) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 15, 2014
Draft - Sour cherry and a slight bit of vanilla. Jet black with a rich beige head. Big oak, vanilla, bourbon but cherries are lost in the background. This is a great disjointed beer that smells like one thing and tastes like another. Fortunately both senses are pleased. douglas88 (9501) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 8, 2013
On tap at the 2013 Holiday Ale Fest. Pours a cloudy dark brown color with a medium brown head. A light vanilla nose with some chocolate and toasted malts. The flavor is warm, vanilla, clear bourbon, dark fruit, anise, milky at times but more heat and big barrel. Quite good. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - DEC 7, 2013
On draught at 2013 Holiday Ale Festival. Dark brown color. Aroma is slightly soured with dark chocolate and bourbon notes. Taste is dark chocolate, tart yeast, roasted malt, bourbon, and coffee. Smooth spiked hot chocolate finish. Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUN 6, 2011
Tap at the Bier Stein Whiskey Barrel Fest. Black as ink with a spotty tan head. Big bourbon aroma from the get go with notes of vanilla, chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and light smoke. Flavor adds a little more smoke but it just serves to accentuate the other notes. Smooth as silk, a little light due to the lager yeast, but that takes nothing away from this beer which was a delight to quaff.

On tap at Fredfest. Pours jet black with a modest tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a thick molasses and vanilla flavor with a serious bourbon trail. The lager yeast flattens the flavor a bit to create a traditional baltic porter feeling. A pretty good brew. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Tap @ FredFest.... Poured pitch black with a tan head. Forward bourbon and vanilla nose. Lager yeast created a nice light body that held its own to the strong boozy bourbon and vanilla alcohol sweet tones. Slight roast, cocoa, dark fruits, and sugary sweet finish.
