Tap at Bier Stein. Poured out a cola brown with a light tan head. Aroma of earthy hops and some hefty caramel malts. Flavor pretty much the same, has a hefty malt finish. I don’t know that I’d call this an IPA, but am not 100% sure where I’d categorize it. Either way it was a decent enough beer. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - MAR 9, 2014
On draught at Hopworks. Deep black with light tan head. Aroma is citrus, dark malt, and roasted smokiness. Taste is dark chocolate, citrus, roasted dark malt. Really well balanced; not too bitter not too sweet. Finishes with a hoppy, toasted character. CheersMate (1343) - Portland (Sellhood), Oregon, USA - FEB 4, 2011
22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods in Bellevue. Nice dark brown, almost black, appearance. This beer has a thin, and yet, wispy head. A little roast is complimented by a nice orange citrus hop aroma. The aroma is quite pungent, and nice. Very roasted at first, but the roast is soon dominated by the hop flavor, which actually has a pine taste, instead of a citrus taste. The beer is rather dry, and the roast mixes well with the aforementioned hop flavor. This has a bit of a milky flavor, as well. This is pretty good, and has a nice lingering bitterness, which pleases me. XaenDovet (1281) - British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 22, 2014

Poured from 1pint 6fl oz bottle. Dark brown with beige head. Medium citrus hop aroma with slight roast malt and a little lactosey chocolate hint. Same taste with a bit stronger resiny hop flavour leaving a bitter finish with a touch of chocolate.

Pours a very dark brown with some sediment on the bottom possibly hops, big light brown head that stays and laces the glass really nicely. Aromas of roasted malt, pine, grassy. Flavours of chocolate/roasted malts, pine to grapefruit to grassy transition with just the right amount of medium bitterness that doesn’t over stay its welcome. Pours very dark brown with nice off-white head. Mid range hoppy aroma. Roasty middle with dry finish. OK - a ways to go before its the Stone Self-Righteous. Sammer (1119) - Plano, Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2011
Dark soda looking pour from bottle with a thin head. Aroma is rye and earthy. Taste is slightly bitter, with notes of herbs, nuts and hay. Complex and interesting.
