Pours black with a large tan head.
Lots of roasty malt as a flavour along with menthol, pine and smoke. Interesting.
Flavours include coffee grounds, roasted malt, caramel, piny hops, spicy notes. Finishes with a bold bitterness with both piny and roasty components.
Carbonation is just a little high. italarican (1550) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 15, 2014
Bottle shared at the Foothills bottle share... thanks for setting it up, Mike! Nice balance in this one. Moderate chocolate sweetness with the right amount of pine sting. Really drinkable. vyvvy (6466) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUN 26, 2014
On tap at the brewpub - Pours fairly dark with a tan head. The aroma has roasted malt and tropical hops. The body is fairly full with soft carbonation. The flavor begins with roast, coffee, pine and tropical fruits. The finish has some citrus and the roast is not as obvious. Good black IPA. pictoman (1127) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 14, 2014
Poured from 1pint 6fl oz bottle. Dark brown with beige head. Medium citrus hop aroma with slight roast malt and a little lactosey chocolate hint. Same taste with a bit stronger resiny hop flavour leaving a bitter finish with a touch of chocolate.

Tap at Bier Stein. Poured out a cola brown with a light tan head. Aroma of earthy hops and some hefty caramel malts. Flavor pretty much the same, has a hefty malt finish. I don’t know that I’d call this an IPA, but am not 100% sure where I’d categorize it. Either way it was a decent enough beer. Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 28, 2010
Draft, Brouwer’s. Poured black with a thin beige head. Aroma is grassy and earthy hops primarily. Flavor is lightly toasty malt with more of the grassy, earthy hop character. There’s also a bit of a lemon peel character, put mostly the hops are more on the herbal side. Very dry and bitter on the finish. blutt59 (6564) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 16, 2010
bottle, thanks to thirdeye11, dark with brown foam, hoppy roasty aromas, flavors of licorice and grapefruit, somehow this worked thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 20, 2010
(22oz bottle) deep brown with light cream head. Nose of juicy citrus, and pumpernickel bread. Taste of grapefruit, bread, with a light body.
